i have nitto nt450's and they are really loud. lots of road noise. are there any z-rateds out there that perform well and arent as loud? maybe its my tire pressure. im running 40-45 psi in all of em. thanks

what size are the tires? say you take a 225/50/16 and a 225/40/16, the 40 will be louder. i would think you could find some softer z rated tires that will be a little quieter but they won't last as long and probably won't be all that much quieter.

Anyone know exactly what makes a tire loud?? I'm running Dunlop Sport W-10's (discontinued) in 215/40ZR17 and they aren't loud at all.

do you have a loud muff? personally i can't hear my tires over the muff. i'm pretty sure the amount of air(volume not psi) in the tire and hardness of the tire determine how loud they are.

Ah, I guess that could be it. I'm running a Thermal and it's pretty loud.

having a bad camber problem...I've run through a couple of brands of Z-rated tires. Kumho Ecsta 712 were very quiet but didn't perform very well. Yokohama a520s (discontinued?) were loud as hell. My current Yokohama AVS ES100 are almost as quiet as the Kumhos. Read reviews on Tirerack.com - they have a pretty good customer feedback section for almost every tire.

isn't 40-45 psi to much? I am running 35 on mines 225/40/18 Kuhmo Supras.......

Funny I just bought new rubber & ended up getting BFGoodrich Scorcher T/As which were designed specificaly for good grip / low road noise! It's the tread pattern that mostly designates how much road noise you actually hear. These have no angled outer tread slots and rout all noise out the underside of the car where you will hear less of it. I run 205/40 17s too. I started out with 40psi but lowered to 35 cause they also like to "tramline" all over bad road surfaces. OK tires and noticably quieter. Then again my generic noise maker straight muffler is still the loudest part of the car:P

Oh yeah you can get different colored treads too, red, yellow, and blue!?!?!?

i got 215/45/17 z rated tires and there very very quiet and handle really good too. i got the new falken line the falken azenzis or something like that tires.com has them for like 98 a piece

hey man, watch out with those tires, ive heard several people have had big problems with them getting knots in them and blowing out, my buddy had them and had a blowout going to a car show, and and got slammed by a semi, and now hes paralyzed, just keep a close eye on them, everyone i know thats had them had developed knots in them, and thats not good. just some useful info.
