Alright, I believe in doing something once, and doing it right...I am looking at the TEIN Super Street damper kit...now, I'm looking to lower my car, but I don't know much about it...

If I get this kit, this will lower my car right? I also wouldn't need any new springs, shocks, or anything like that, right? except alignment kits...Also, this kit says it is for off-road use only...obviously a cop wouldn't know the difference, but why is it for off-road, woudl it be unsafe on highways...

Basically, what are you thoughts on this...is this a good suspension setup? TIA

the kit is complete, all you will need is a camber correction kit. it keep ur car at stock height as well as slam it to the ground. the TEIN ss system incorporates a 16 point damper adjustment(stiffness) it is safe on public roads, they just say that for liability reasons, ie:person sets the shocks unevenly which will cause unsafe driving conditions. the tein ss system is a great true-coilover setup, the only negative thing about the ss, is the 1000 price tag

Yeah, the $1000 price tag sucks, but like I said, if I'm going to do something to my car, I want to do it right...

I want mine to look like this...

Is this damper kit better than something like Eibach prokits w/ Illuminas, or what? Could I have the same amount of handling ability with the Teins or with some custom setup?

Now if you want to add to it...you are able to buy the EDC for it too....only thing you would have to do miner adj. to your hood to incorporate them....I saw get that too...its 300 then you can control the dampening inside the car



Performance: Stuff that makes my car run better or go faster

Looks: Stock because looks doesnt make my car go faster or run better

Weight Reduction: CF Hood, No A/C or Powersteering Accessories, No rear interior

How many times do you plan on taking your car "to the limit" or something like that? I mean a good spring/strut or coilover/strut combo will fulfil your needs fine Dan. The only way I would advise to get the Tein setup is if you were actually going to use it (aka auto-x or road racing). If you put that Tein system on, you will probably never even see the benefits of them.

I couldn't agree with you more Dan, you shouldn't do it the cheap way. But the cheap way is buying sprint springs and sticking with stock struts. You have Eibach, H&R, Goldline, and probably a couple more good springs to choose from. Next time you are around I will take you for a ride in my car. For being a relatively cheap setup I can outhandle probably 90% of the cars I run across.

the EDFC system is availible for the eclipse setup, but only for the type-flex dampers. also this is pointless because even teins website states that the motors that fit on the top of the strut will not leave enough clearance for the hood to close. it will work on the back. basically useless, a waste of $350

I'm planning on coming down for a show or two this summer at Bandimere with a couple buddies of mine, I'll have to catch up with you and get a ride. As you pointed out, I don't need the top of the line road-racing suspension, I just want to do it right. Like with suspension lifting a truck, why get the body lift when you can do a suspension lift...ya know, I just want to do it right.

HaHa, no, suspension wise, not car wise...

i guess it comes down to what the need and what u want out of your suspension, for the money a spring and strut kit is a good deal for th handling u get out of them but, u can never come close to what u would get from a properly tuned tein or full body coilover because there is no comparison one is made for performance and the other one is made to improve a stock grandma style suspension,

tein can be lowered or raised i beleive 4" might be lower on the teins i know the JIC's have a good 4" of preload adjustability...

the EDC will need hood mods but if your serious enough to want EDC you will find a way to make it work jsut like i will when i get the kit....

the average user will not need more then struts and springs, people that use their car for auto x and road racing and slam it for the drag track would love to dial in there suspension with 16 adjustment points....

tein, JIC, tanable shocks are the best way to go no doubt but realise what u have dont buy them just cause people say they are good look at your use of the car...
