What is the biggest size I can fit on 19s w/out rubbing too much. Can 40 series tires fit or do I need 35s? Also, what is the widest I can go? Basically it all comes down to, will 19X8 rims w/40 series tires rub really bad? Sorry for all the questions, but I have no idea on this.

basically, it depends on how you lower the car. for the most part yes it will rub. our wheel wells aren't as gracious as you would hope. proper upsize isn't possible on our car because a 19" diameter wheel would have to be wider than what can fit under the car. sof for 19x8 225-35-19 is what you'll need. if you're worried about denting the rims on 35 series tires and asking about 40 series because of this than don't worry about it. 40 series won't save your rims much either.

it's cool. i can almost guarantee the next post on this will oppose what i say. but understand that my advice on tires is extremely conservative. if i'm going to give advice it's going to be accurate.

225/35/19 is the size you need. I have 235/35/19 on the VDub shown below. Trust me you dont want a 40 series 19" if you can even find one narrower than 245mm. Hell some civics roll on 215/35/19 now a days. I had 235/45/17"s rub so I'm damn near sure 225/35/19s will rub a little, course the less offset of the rim the better. If they have like 40-45mm offset I can nearly garauntee you will rub some. Less like 35-39mm maybe not so much.
