16909, Anyone who really knows about Rotors and Brakes?
Posted by 9d9Mitsu, Apr-08-03 08:56 AM
What are the best Rotors out for our cars and where can I buy them online? I heard a lot of great things about Zinc plated Rotors do they make any for our cars?

Can I use the "greenstuff" break pads with my stock brakes?

TIA:thumbsup

The zinc plating is just for rust prevention and only in the areas of the rotor that don't make contact with the brake pad.

personally i think one've the best upgrades you can do for our braking system is switchin to dual piston calipers (from a GSX). gives ya a lot more stopping power. plus you'd be upgrading your rotors at the same time so you get more surface area. if ya wanna switch to crossdrilled/slotted at the same time it's a good idea (since you can't use stock rs/gs/gst rotors after you upgrade). idk i like my gsx calipers a lot. i got the aem 12.5" crossdrilled/slotted rotors at the same time too. i dunno how big a difference just upgrading your rotors makes.

if i was to buy the BEST i would get the hurricane rotors by the brake man they are full race autox rotors though they are purpose built to stop the car very quickly...

brembo are nice though but not a real race rotor like the hurricanes

raceconcepts.net get the dimple drilled and slotted and they are zinc plated all over not just on the outer edge.

and I would not recommend green stuff pads, I ve heard mixed reviews,
But raceconcepts has axis metal masters here is the pricing for ASOG and 2gnt (MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO WOOD AND MENTION 2GNT OR ASOG FOR THE DISCOUNTS) and these are brembo/brandi blanks

Prices are:

Raceconcepts DimpleDrilled/Gas Slotted Brake rotors.

Front Rotors: $90 a set

Rear Rotors: $80 a set

axxis/pbr metalmaster semi-metallic pads

Front Pads: $40
Rear Pads: $35

Stainless Steel Brake Lines: $85

**Prices do not include shipping, buyers will pay actual shipping costs**

You won't likely find a better deal than this anywhere, and these rotors are really great.

Here's a note that raceconcepts sent me about the rotors before I bought mine..

"Direct replacement, exact same size as your stock rotors, no other modification is need, works with stock calipers, pad, and wheels.
Silver zinc coated, for anti-corrosion.

Every rotor we manufacture is zinc coated at no extra cost.

These are dimple drilled and slotted. It looks exactly like your conventional cross drilled rotors. Except that these rotors will not crack. These rotors has been tested, at 20% cooler over stock rotors. Cooler rotors means, no warping, shorter stopping distance, no fade, & long pad life. Now you can have cross drilled rotors and not having to worry about cracking. We all love peroformance, but you don't have to give up your life for it.
Conventional cross drilled rotors, are very problematic. If you know anything about cross drilled rotors, you know that they crack very easily. There are many problems with conventional cross drilled rotors, that the manufacturor doesn't want to you know about. Would you want your wife, children, girlfriend, or your grandma to be riding in your car, knowing that you have bad brakes?

This is why we at Raceconcepts quit selling conventional cross drilled rotors, and started making our own rotors.

Your Safety Is Our Concern."

^ That's an great deal!

I still wish I would have got some GSX calipers before getting nice rotors/pads.
