16580, 18's or 19's???
Posted by 9D9 MITSU RS, Mar-23-03 06:28 PM
OK. I wanna look into some rims. I want 19" rh evo c2's. I like the new c4 too tho- but it is multi-piece if u get 19", which is high dollar. I could get it in 18" in 1 piece. I really want 19's tho b/c not many people have them around here. People here tell me they won't fit. I know better. My question tho- they fit, but how hard is it to fit them with pro kits? Do they rub? do you have to modify anything? I am talking 19x7.5. Please answer if u know from experience only. Guessing is all I can already do. I need help making a serious decision here. TIA!

i wouldn't do 19's... there is a reason most people don't go any bigger that 18's for our cars. 18's are gonna slow down your car enough as it is. not sure about the clearance issues tho.

You won't have any problems running 19's, I run 19x8's on mine without a problem. The awe factor of 19's is awesome, gotta love it. As for the performance aspect, unless your building your car for all-out hauling ass speed, the minimal difference will be well worth it. I don't have a turbo, but I do run nitrous, and my performance is good. I've got the power to run / outrun most people, and the show-stopping capability that breaks necks and wins the shows. Go with the 19s and never look back!!

I'm a show goer mainly. I think my car will gain with the 19's I want. They weigh like 23 each. My 17's weigh 27.5 lbs EACH! JESUS! I figured 19's would have the "wow factor" That's why I want them. So people will just stop and say, "Holy shit, those rims are HUGE!" :P so they don't rub?

I have a pic of a GST with C2 evos, and pro kits. It looks close, but they fit.

don't mean to steal the post, but does anyone know a good site to find the weights of different wheels? If those only weigh 23lbs, go for it... that doesn't seem too bad. I saw some nice 17s that are 13lbs tho, that's what I'm talking about ($300 each tho... ouch)!

Go for the "WOW factor" I've had my rims on for a couple of days and I'm constantly being asked "how big are those". I'm just waiting for some more funds so I can lower it. I'll be going with the ProKit I think. 19x7.5 with 225/35/19

wanna put your money were your mouth is ? }( go with 19s balla, my sucides are only 19lbs a peice. go with DUBZ-1. and if your into shows mostly, you cant when a show without that wow factor, and 19s add to it, so i say get some SHAQ SHOES.

I will throw in my 2 cents on this issue for you to think about.

I have 18x8's on my 95 Eagle Talon. The tires are 225/40/18 and they are really expensive. If you want the cheapest (and still not too shabby) tires they are at least going to cost you $110 a piece. It only goes WAY WAY WAY up if you try and get winter tires or big name brands.

225/40 is as big as you can go w/o rubbing. I have absolutely no rubbing at all. The problem with all this is that the tires are so little and soft that they def. don't last as long. To tell you what.. after having 18s for a while.. I would have rather got 17s. The tires are much cheaper.. and they are easier to find and replace if you are in sudden need of a new tire or two.

I do enjoy my 18's though.. they look great and you don't even feel bumps in the road at all. However, they do come at a price!

^^^^Tire Price...A major downside to having 19's. Cheapest tires I have found so far are $160 each.

I think on www.tirerack.com you can probably get some Pirelli P7000's for around $145 or so in 19s. Yea.. see I thought 18's were expensive & hard to find locally.. couldn't imagine 19's.

I had to replace some tires in a hurry last week since I had to make an unexpected trip. It was a bitch to find 18's at a good price. LOL I got some Nanking tires for $115 each! Woo!

the money for the tires is the price u will have to pay to bling bling.....get 19's....they will look like 20's since your dropped....shouldn't rub.....but might...not much though if it even does.....trust me........i wish i had gotten 19's when i had the chance.......

my parents were probably gonna help me out till I could sell my 17's, BUT now only for 18's. fuck that. wheel shops and ricers keep telling them that 19's won't fit an eclipse. NOT EVEN CLOSE. WTF? I've seen a few cars with them. They say I'd rub the tires like hell. With pro kits and illuminas??? WTF? I told my parents that I know what's up with eclipses. The guy at the wheel shop is prolly just mad b/c I'm not buying them from him. :rolleyes
