Is it actually possible to buy our suspension components from a place like autozone -- has anyone replaced the rear bushings or the entire upper control arm from a place like autozone???

autozone doesn't carry any suspension products for our cars. if you just need the bushings, get some energy suspension or prothane bushings. if you need a control arm or knuckle you will have to find a used one or get it from mitsu.

I have the Energy Suspension Front and Rear Shock Upper Bushing sets (5.8103 and 5.8104). I can't say I noticed a huge difference, but my car is pretty rough over bumps, which I take to be a good sign... ;)

I would only recommend these under the following cases:

- you are installing new shocks. It makes sense to do these while your susp is apart.
- car has lots of miles and you want to tighten up the suspension again.
- you plan to compete in AutoX or OpenTracking events.

I wouldn't recommend them just for the heck of it, since it is a fair amount of work for not a huge gain. Course, that won't stop some people, which is fine.

You don't by any chance have your stock bushings do you?? Did you destroy them in the process of putting the new ones in?

I don't want to mess around with the car -- and my bushings are pretty much gone -- both left and right upper control arm bushings are gone.

Also -- what did you do to take the bushings out / pop the new ones in -- i am assuming you had to remove the control arm -- and then place them into a press -- can these be rented??? What did you use etc... please let me know what you can -- thanks.

yeah you need a hydrolic press and a bushing driver set and a torch. its a pain in the ass. i might have some spare rear control arms if you wanna hit me up i'll check for ya.

Well, I was referring to the shock tower bushings, which are basically drop in once you get the shock apart. The control arm bushings are the ones that require the press.

you don't even need to remove your struts to put those on. just loosen take off the nut and use a little pry bar or screw driver pry the strut down. just have the pry bar up against the springs.
