16105, New coilovers!
Posted by Artelmo99, Mar-01-03 02:56 PM
My friend bought me these for christmas and not to sure about them he got them off of ebay! I went to the shop at GM where I work and they told me they would install for 300.00 dollars, never messed with suspensions before mainly I work on electronics. The directions say some things really have to be modified. Your info please from anyone who has these or any like it.

$300 sounds steep. You should check places other than dealerships. I remember being quoted $200 for a short shifter install at a dealership.

If those are matrix coilovers, do not put them on your car. Matrix has horrible quality! :nono

Check the box, instructions, or see if it says Matrix anywhere on the spring. I had Matrix coilovers on my car before. They are the worst spring/coilover ive ever rode in. Its very bouncy. x( But anyways.... To make a loooooong story short, they are very cheap because they are junk. My threads on the sleeve were torn/stripped and the thing got jammed up or something so I could not move it at all. And that was only my second or thrid time adjusting it. Your choice, but I would sell/burn them and get something else. That is if they are Matrix. Its your choice, but if you put them on and they get all F'd up.... I warned you! ;):thumbsup

By the look of them, the only modification that is needed is to cut the bump stops. Because of the short length of the sleeves, I don't even think you have to cut the perches. $300 is way steep. Go to a local performance shop to get prices!

$200 for a short shifter install? WOW! I did it in less then one hour. The longest part was taking the center console out.

They dont say matrix anywhere on them all they say is that they are from A+ Performance, Thats it! Now I dont want to put them on if there is going to be a problem.

I did end up doing myself in less than an hour I figured I wasn't going to pay 3 times what the shifter cost just to have it installed.

Sell those coilovers. You can't lower your car at all. The springs are like 4" tall! The sleeve is like 2" of adjustment. They are HORRIBLE!

Get maxspeed coilovers if you want a cheap but VERY good coilover. Believe me and don't waste your time with these.
