1610, Need a polyurethane steering rack bushing..... Posted by jdeyo, Apr-09-01 08:00 AM
I have looked for one everywhere and need to know if anybody has found one, or has found another bushing that is the same size. I called up a local mitsu dealer and they told me that there is only one bushing that connects the steering rack to the steering column to the frame of the car. It cost 5 bucks, but I would like a polyurethane one instead of stock rubber one.
Also, how come I cannot find a single local auto shop that will install my full bushing kit? They all say they dont have time, or I wont be able to have my car for a week, etc. I know this type of work is not that difficult. It may be tedious, but if I am willing to pay the hourly labor fee, why do they turn me down? I have called at least six places.

That surprises me. I can't imagine they wouldn't wantyour money. Yeah book time is probably around 6 - 8 hours but that would be a nice chunk of change for them. Just rent some tools and do it yourself. Probably take you a weekend.
