15731, Tq. for lugs...
Posted by My9t5Talon, Feb-15-03 02:23 AM
It's been a week since I got my new rims on, so I wanted to tq them down again...should I tq to stock specs, or a different amount???

They are 17" adr gt-sports with gorilla lugz (if that makes a difference)...

Thanx!

My vote is for stock specs. Safe for the wheel, as well as safe for you. Some people like to go all the way to 100ft/lbs but I think that's uncalled for.

On my owners manual and chiltons recommends 65 - 80 ft/pds torque. Any higher there is a possibility of stripping the bolt.

i torque mine at 100 all the time and have no problems what so ever...and 80ft/lbs is meant for our original wheels with counter-sunk lugs with the washers. the washers act as a lock washer so you dont need to torque it as much. if you torque them at any spec tho....always!! double check, ive have too many wheel offs in my life, and dont want to see it done to any 2g bros or sis'

remember, if you torque them too much, you can warp the rotors.
