14828, ROTATED TIRES CAUSED HELL
Posted by mrlocalpimp, Jan-10-03 02:37 PM
I hate all. All can die.

I put my back tires on front today and the car is leaning LIKE HELL to the right. I mean like hell. I have to actually put muscle power into holding it straight on the road or ill veer right off. This sucks!!!!!!

What the hell did I break! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

Tire pressures seem right. The left was a little low so I put air in, but now it seems to lean to right even more. AH!!!!!!!!!!

I dunno what balanced means....... Maybe I need an alignment.. Not directional tires, just normal 205'55'16 economy tires. But either way theyre going the same direction.

So I did the right side earlier and everything was fine. Then at night I did the left side, thats when everything started sucking and it leaned to the right bad. Its not the lugs, they are tight. Could I have them not mounted perfect on the lugs? Who knows. I suck. Maybe Ill just redo that side tomorrow, you never know maybe itll help.

are you dropped at all?? make sure the spring is sittin on the perch correctly b4 lowerin the car back down *ALWAYS* cause it can F up your stance.....

good luck, i would jack her up slowly, and keep an eye on where the suspension is restin...

balanced is when you get new tires put on, after they get them aired up they put the tire on a machine that spins it. it indicates if the wheel is off balance and where its off balanced. then the put weights on the wheels to correct it. in the case of your they would probably have the stick on weights. if you look on the inside of your rim the weights would look like little metal squares.

if its pulling to one side it could just be that one tire is really bald or that one tire is larger than the other bacause of tread wear.

Yeah Ill see if the spring came down right, cuz yes Im dropped.

Someone mentioned a brake may not be realeasing. can this happen when you over tighten the lugs?

i dunno bout the brake releasing, but lugs should be torqued to about 75ft.lbs. or so, and shops usually overtighten them w/their air compressors...

if a brake was stuck, i doubt it would F with your ride height at all...

if you did it yourself with a floor jack you possibly could have dropped it to hard and something came loose. if the car is visually tilted bad to one side than the car's veering would probably be attributed to it's weight all being pushed to one side.

juggalo was right about balancing. when tires are out of balance they usually give more vibartion problems than anything so i wouldn't say that.

directional tires won't cause much pulling or veering. directional tread is mostly for noise and water traction. if you have directional tires on backwards and drive through water you're guaranteed to hydroplane. all the water is being pulled under the tire instead of being pushed away.

when you say "leaning" do you mean the car physically looks like it's leaning, or do you mean "leaning" as when you're driving, the car tends to steer itself in one direction?

I dunno about the first leaning, but here are some tips for the second leaning:

I'm assuming that you rotated your tires cuz you said you put the back to the front.

Did you check your tread wear? Even the slightest variation in diameters in a pair of tires will cause them to make the car turn. Try switching left tires with right tires and seeing if the car "leans" to the other direction.. if so, then you just need a pair of new tires.

Also, try swaping diagonally (for example, front right for back left). Tires don't wear evenly, so try to find the two that are the most worn and pair them together.
