Hey Guys,

I have a 95 ESi that is used as a daily driver. I'm lookin at a suspension upgrade. I want something that would look good with a set of 17's but not too harsh of a ride. I don't know much about suspension upgrades, but what parts would you guys recommend? Thanks for you help, I can't to get working on this. My car has 14's, and the wheel gap is huge....looks like crap!!

I recently bought a set of Goldline springs and they are awesome. Not quite as stiff as some of the other brands, but they handle like a champ. Cheap too, you can find them for under a hundred bucks if you do some looking around. Along with that I would get some aftermarket struts such as Tokico, your stock struts will not last lowered.

I installed the Eibach Pro-Kit and Tokico Illumina shocks/struts, Hurricane tie bars and that car was incredible.

I am all about my Koni's but your looking at around 600 for those and I also have the Eibach prokits you could also do the whole energy suspension setup...tie bars...or you could go Coilovers....but I only suggest the best not some half ass crap...the best is Tein or JIC or if you want to wait alittle while I bet Project Mu will be bringing some coilovers out....I heard those are the shit

after droppin a clipse/talon, it just looks "right" and hella mean too...

start with good tires. you plan on 17's so don't bother upgrading what you have if your seriously going to get 17's. look for michelin sports or sport all seasons. other than that yokohama and dunlop are good. kumho is a good deal but you get what you pay for in the long run. if your not an aggressive driver kumho would prolly be the best way to go other than michelins, price being the determining factor. the key is speed rating. higher performance rating include h,v,w,y,z. w and y are high performance+all season tires. basically a z rated tire with wet traction in mind. i wouldn't recommend anything lower than a v rating (look for v,w,y or z speed rating) SPEED RATING IS NOT HOW FAST THE TIRE CAN GO!! speed ratings are to give you an idea of what kind of specifications the tire has to live up to. or in short how it was made. you can do 140 on s rated tires. your just not supposed to.

try to get 17x8's the extra inch will make a difference ;) proper tire size would be 225-45-17 for 17x8's or 225-45-18 for 18x8's if you 17x7 proper tire size would be 205-40-17. these aren't as tall or wide but some people like the thinner look.

i'd recomend springs less you wanna be real low then go coils. skunk2 or ground control are good names on coils. eibach pro kits are a good balanced spring. h&r's sportline springs are nice as well but alot of people complain about them being to stiff.

struts. i like koni yellows and tokico illuminas. both are very nice. koni's have a lifetime warranty are are 3 way adjustable. illuminas have a three year warranty but are 5 way adjustable. up to you. both give a nice ride on soft settings and give good performance as you stiffen them.

sway/anti roll bars. rmdsm has a nice rear bar. very stiff. i'd go for that. you'd want to stiffen the rear more than the front to balance out the natural understeer of the fwd. in the front you can take your pic. rmdsm makes a front bar too but some people think it's to stiff and the car still understeers.

upper strut tower bars. not worth it imo. alot of people said they like them but i've never felt a difference in a car that could be attributed to this mod alone,unlike the rest of the things i've mentioned.

other than that glenn (hurricane GS) makes a chassis tie bar type of deal. connects the frame in the center of the car. lot of good things have been said about that so i'd look around the board for those if glenn is still doing them.

remember this isn't the bible of suspension mods. in the end it's your car and your money. but this is what i would do with my money and my car and i wouldn't advise someone to do something i wouldn't do myself.

i personally have eibach prokit.. i have not upgraded anything else on the suspension with the exception of SPC camber kits.. but my car rides like it was stock.. doesnt take bumps all hard or bouncy..the eibach prokit only drops your car 1.6" in both front and rear.which is enough for me.. since i have a full body kit .. it gives me that lowering look/handeling and i dont have to worry bout scraping like most do with the 2.0" drops that some springs such as sprint gives you.. and the other good thing bout eibach is that they have a milion mile warrenty..which is always nice.. I love them as you can tell.. haha.. .. definetly do the drop.. i have 17s on my car and 50 series tires ..heres a pic of it.. lowered..

Any ways try and ride in some different cars if possible I am dropped on neuspeed race springs (2" drop) which a lot of people say are to hard but in all honesty I wish they where slightly stiffer. I am pretty big into doing back roads and drift crap so each individual person has there own needs. Eibach is a very good name and they actually make almost all the springs out there for other companies, they are just made to different specs and quality depending on each individual company demands. Also I would recommend tokico's they are perfect for lowered cars. If you don't want to deal with chambers kits and going through tires a lot stay with a drop around 1.5" or less if you go 2" or more you will need chamber kits for front and rear which is more $$$.
