14295, Quick question about CV boot repair Posted by Scarface, Dec-17-02 10:21 AM
Ok my pass. side front one ripped and the dealership wants $210 to replace it, but I called Pepboys and they'll do it for about $40, does this sound right to you guys, my axle is fine, I didn't drive the car after it tore. Thanks for the help

$40 seems like a good deal. most places charge about $60-$80. it should be cool if you haven't driven it since it broke. if you have been driving with a torn boot for a little while its a good idea to replace the cv axle

Pep boys is probably going to put on a wrap around boot. It is split down the center and it has small screws that close it together. Keep an eye on it tho, they've been known to leak. I wrapped mine LOOSELY with electral tape to seal it better.
