i know the install of the kit is a pain in the ass but i was wondering if i could do it myself, without a lift or airtools, or should i pay someone to do it?

They say you need a hydralic press to get some of the old bushings out and some of the new ones in. Everyone that I have talked to that has them says they are a major PITA.

dido on the above.. you will need at least a press to press out the old ones and press in the new ones.. and possibly a torche.. you could do it w/o air tools and a lift, but you are gonna have some massive downtime. mine took all weekend.. from fri night to sun afternoon.

..and that was WITH airtools, a torch, a press, and FOUR GUYS helping him.

Gawd, i never wanna install a bushing set again. That SUCKED.

Any guesses to pricing to have a tire shop do it?


God i really hate paying for work on the car...

for how long it takes and the tools needed i was told it could cost around 600 to get them installed..

I guess the real question is... Are they worth it? Did you notice a difference in ride quality and performance? I want to install a set as well, but I am worried that the car will get more road noise and vibrations from a harder bushing. But I also know that my stock bushings are old and suck.

armond noticed about 1-2 clicks equivalent on his shock setting meaning if he wanted the same feel he could just turn up his shocks...


im 1/4 the way done with the bushing install remove of the old stuff is hard the new stuff presses in with so much ease its simple...

they way i had to get the bushgins out is i drilled witha normal drill bit the rubber center out making alot of holes applying heat and then pushing inner sleeve with rubber out hack sawing the outer sleeve in half then hammering air chiseling the outer sleeve out and voila my press wasn't any help i couldn't get it to hold the parts still while putting 20tons of pressure they would shoot out across the shop and potentially hurt me i paid a whooping 99$ for the press though

read instructions on the bushing there is one u dont install that u think u would i already had it removed before i found the last paper hidden under the metal sleeves,

the bushings with emit better suspension movement because they are much smoother and have les friction agains suspension bushings housings the bushings also stiffen the suspension,


final verdict get prothane they are stiffer cost more but you'll notice more of a difference....

i get squeaks a little and feel the road a little bit more, but all in all it was a great upgrade over the stock old crap bushings considering one of mine had gone out.. and now.. i dont have to worry about them going out again for, like, ever. when i was on stock struts and springs the upgrade was hugely noticable.. it felt like i had new shocks.. my front two shocks at the time were either blown or about to be blown. The ride was a tad bouncier but it rebouded quickly enough, but im sure that was part of the front shocks being blown. The biggest thing i noticed was that i accually didnt feel much of the road, such as going over rough roads or pathes were very smooth compared to how they used to be. Now with the new springs and shocks, i cant really feel any difference, but its partly to do with me getting use to it, but one thing is for sure.. from a friend that drove the car the other day, is that he said he loved the feel of the car and it was the best one he had driven. only thing left for me and my suspension setup will be upgraded sway bars.. which i may one day get, if i ever get the $ for them :-)

yeah i was gonna start working on mine tonight. i, like the dumbass i am, have already lost one of the shifter bushings but i did read the instructions. i am upgrading from drums to rotors so i'm gonna start with the rear since the new pieces aren't on the car yet. i figure if i can get those done okay that i should be able to do the rest. if anybody has anymore advise for me before i start let me know.
