13579, need advice about a brake upgrade
Posted by ner947, Nov-21-02 11:33 AM
...and it's about time. i've poured thousands of dollars into my car, which some of my friends call a black hole for money. yet, i haven't done a brake upgrade yet. my best friend with a 1993 audi 90 cs quattro has stock size orbital slotted rotors with ebc(?) metal brake pads. i've driven his car a few times, and the braking is so much better than mine (stock brakes, with the crappy drums in the back). i've been pondering a brake upgrade, and possibly converting to discs in the back. i downshift a lot, and don't really use my brakes as much as a normal person on the street. (i drove my friend's audi and noticed the braking was more difficult than stock when his brakes were cold, but it was soooo good after being heated up which i can deal with.) it's nice to be able to threshold break if i fly by a cop on the highway and not suffer from fade. any suggestions? thanks guys.

Well I just did the GSX brake upgrade and I would recommend it to anyone. The brakes are not even broken in yet and already the stopping power is equal to my old stock brakes. Im sure they will stop the car on a dime when the pads are seated. You can do the whole upgrade for under 300 bucks of you do some shopping around. And not only do they work better than stock, but I think they are rather pleasing to the eye as well. I just posted some pics of my upgrade if you want to take a look. :)
