13268, will illuminas lower the car more? Posted by dfresh, Nov-10-02 11:13 AM
i have the sportlines and was going to get the ajustable illuminas, but before i do i was wondering if they will lower the car more. I have been told that they will lower about .25-1 inch lower than what it is now, but i don't know if this is true. If it does it won't be a problem but i was wanting to know what i was getting in to before i do it. Also, to all the people with the sportline's what shocks do u have or recomend. The roads around here are pretty shitty with lots of bumps but I don't mind the bounce if that helps.

humm i didn't notice that much more of a drop. illuminas or koni yellows would be good choices.

koni's will lower you depending on how you install them. illuminas shouldn't. if your running OE wheels than lowering is pointless. new struts will do much more for handling than springs on OE wheels.

I have a little less wheel gap with illuminas. BUT I never cut the bump stops b4 I got the illuminas. After I got illuminas, I trimmed bump stops during the install. I think this may be the reason for the small amount of drop I noticed after iluminas. It wasn't bad at all. The ride is much better.

Yea you won't notice any difference in the ride height. I have tokico illums and sprint springs.

Cutting the bump stops has nothing to do with ride height. All that does is allow the strut a bit more travel.

I never noticed a difference in the height when I installed the Illuminas, the Eibach Pro-Kit did all that. I barely trimmed the bump stops either because I wanted to be real careful with that but even then, that has nothing to do with ride height. Just make sure your springs seat good and you cut your bump stops a little.

my car looks lower than b4 with pro kits and stock struts. I cut the bump stops pretty much in half. You are supposed to take atleast 1/3 off if I remember the tokico instructions correctly. Something altered my ride height some. I figured it may be the bump stops. who knows.
