13174, Guess who is getting big brakes??
Posted by 1TuffRS, Nov-05-02 02:59 PM
Me! One of the guys in my club totaled his GS, Blk97Eclipse on here and he is selling me his Baer brakes for 200 plus my stock stuff. So I will be rocking corvette brakes next week. Do you guys think my brake biased will be really messed up since i will still have the drums in the rear?? Im planning on doing the rear disc conversion soon though will that help?

Sounds sweet. You people in car clubs get all the breaks...no pun intended.

Prepare to do a nose dive whenever you hit the brakes. I nose dive a bit now with the Raceconcept rotors and GSX calipers. I still have drums in the rear also.

Why not grab the rear rotors off of the totalled GS?

he said that they are jacked up, so that is a no go. Im thinking that i will just have some major brake bias for a little while, but Ill deal with it

you can get the aem rear for less than 300 I think. I would do that. Most places will tell you the rear doesn't even matter anyways and is a waste of money. I am like you tho, I wouldn't want big brakes in front, and drums in the rear, just doesn't LOOK balanced. Congrats on the brakes. What are Joe and Melissa going to get now? That really sucks. Their car was very clean. I wish them luck for getting a new car and making it that sweet again anytime soon! I loved the look of that thing. :(

ANything ever happens to mine= 99 GSX. They are lucky in a sense. Nobody was hurt right? Besides their pride and hard work?

hell i dont know what i would do. But Alan got his 18's for 200 and his stock rims, and Doug is getting his N1. So atleast something good is coming out of the tragedy.

Logic I was doing some researching and I noticed that when Hades added rear discs he said that the car stopped nose diving. His adding the rear discs would mean the front brake bias would have been reduced. This being said I came to the conclusion that you answered yes to my question in a round about way. So thanks

hehehe....I was wondering if you read my answer. No problem. You will definetly want to upgrade to rear discs once you get the big breaks on.

Right now with GSX calipers and Raceconcept rotors I can hit the brakes hard and throw my passenger into the dash :) I am also in the market for upgrading from drums to disks.

Anyways, good luck. Big breaks are badass, imo.

well we got them on, along with illuminas, nuespeed sport springs, added the stock rear sway bar, and converted the rears to cross drilled and slotted rotors with EBC greens. It feels like a completely different car. I have to relearn how to take curves now. Hell even a guy in a C5 was impressed with the brakes. They just barely fit inside the GSX rims. Hopefully Ill have pics soon for everyone to see.
