no not at all ...how ever they are expensive and from my experience you can only get them at the dealer..145 in oregon..

whey u take out the rotor and look behind the wheel hub you will see four bolts that hold the hub to the ..whats it call...that thingee that keeps the wheel where its suposed to..anyways. well the bearings on our cars are machined press meaning that they dont come apart(believe me i spent six hours trying to get to them but no luck) if its broken go to the dealer and get it from them once you get the piece youll understand what i mean..

Yeah, the dealership doesn't sell JUST the wheel bearing, they only sell the whole hub assembly. That's why it's so expensive. Both my front wheel bearings are bad so I'm swapping them out this week. I got lucky and found a wrecked 98 GS in the junkyard and got both hubs for $115. I would have already had them installed, but I can't get the ball joints to come out and I'm afraid I'm gonna rip the boots popping them out with the tool, so I ordered 6 new boots. I'm hoping I won't need them all, so if you rip a couple fixing your wheel bearing, let me know cuz I might have a few for sale after I'm done.

do what i did..take out the whole suspension i unbolted the bolts where the camber kit goes in(top) and unbolted the two bolts holding it at the bottom(the link that ataches it to the chasi,i believe there are two..cause those balljoints are a pain to remove) and that way you wont have to worry about the balljoints,or u can not take anything out except for the axle(move it out of the way) and use the fourbolts holding the hub to remove it..hard for me to explain..

so the front are a lot more than the rear b/c i got qoute at tallahasse mitsu for the rears 89 each

Well, you can unbolt the lower lateral arm from the crossmember, loosen the axle nut flush to the end of the axle threads, and whack it with a hammer until the axle pops out, and then you can get to the 4 bolts easy. If nothing is frozen, it should take no more then an hour per bearing. If things are frozen... well, it will take a lot longer. Days, even.

dont try to pop off the shaft with anything you will regret it (idid)get a special tool for that from autozone rent it and take it back..your going to mess up the shaft where the nut goen in and youll be hurting..

Ok, I have a stupid question too! :P

How can you tell if you have a bad wheel bearing? Is there any easy way to check? And, if you do have one, what could happen if you just keep driving with it for a while?

I know my wheel bearings are bad because when I jack up the front of the car, I can wiggle the wheels back and forth, they aren't held on tight......and because the tire shop told me so. :P

I wouldn't really say it's dangerous to drive with bad wheel bearings, but it's not really a good idea either. And it will cause your tires to wear unevenly because the slack creates bad camber.

If there is a popping noise when you move your wheel left to right your tierods are wearing out, if something pops when you move it out and in on the top and bottom the balljoints are worn out. your hub is worn if the there is a noise when your wheels are turning (without applying your brakes. (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

is it dangerous to drive with bad bearings?? dont know..why dont you try it and when your tires pop off while going 60 let me know what happens and see if it was worth changing mine..
if it wiggles or when youtake it out it sound like there is something lose inside then its no good..

Actually, if you partially thread the nut on the end of the axle, you will not mushroom out the end. Not to say that I didn't mushroom an end out, but I didn't have the nut in place. I can't see anything happening to the threads with the nut in place up top so that you don't hammer on the threaded portion...

i would not take any chances and i would go toautozone and rent a puller or a pusher..just to be safe..
