I've been having problems with my suspensions. I finally got some illuminas for my HP racing coilovers... but I still BOTTOM OUT HARD!! I kid you not...man, it herts! Every bridge i see on the interstate... I thinks its the coilovers. So I was wondering what kind of Coilovers or even struts you guys use? My car is about 3in dropped. I really like the low look! What you guys think is a good brand and how far could it be dropped. Because, when my coilovers are compressed... they don't even have 1/2in between every spiral. If you got pics of your lowerd cars, that will even be better!

Mines dropped 1.5" (any more and I would be ripping up the front clip)and I bottom out on most larger bumps etc.. so 3" you definitely will, nothing you can do except spend the money on a full coilover suspension. Coilover springs IMO are way to short to do any good, it would have been fine if they give you an extra 6" of spring and a longer collar, then it would be much better. guess Ill just have to make my own set, there is a machine shop by me that makes springs etc.. if I tell them the spring rate length etc.. they could whip me up some longer springs and a longer collar, but that might cost just as much as a full coilover setup

Coilovers, even with a good name brand, will not yield a comfortable ride. I strongly suggest you get springs, and if you like the low look, get an agressive dropped sring. Maybe the H&R Race springs? Those will drop your front 2"...and after settling maybe a tad lower. I used to have Skunk2 Coilovers, but I've got H&R Sport Springs now.....MUCH smoother ride, and still looks sleek. Go for springs.

...man...2inches... i really like the low look though. so there are NO 3inch drop coilovers that wont bottom out??? Or atleast that's got more free compressable space in coilovers?

I'm dropped a little over 2" and when I hit the bumpstops, I can't even relly feel it.
If your gonna drop low, you have to remember to cut your bumpstops. It will give the struts a little more play.

I used to have them bumpstops on, but then i heard its better off...so i took them off... but didn't really notice any changes. Still bottom out hard...:(

Your not suppose to take them off completely. You are suppose to cut 2/3 of them off.

oh, just cut 2/3 off? But by leaving 1/3 of it, what benifit do i get?

You get longer lasting shocks. :D

I have the skunk2 coilovers with the tokico blues and I personally love them! Yeah, I bottom out once and a while but I like the sporty feel of the suspension.

hey I herd something different today... I herd that i can cut my stock springs short and use it. Has anyone done this or herd anybody use this method? I really want to keep the low look so i'm willing to do anything to keep my car from bottoming out...and keep it in one peice. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Worst and most dangerous way to lower your car. That is extremely ricey as you will bounce up and down the street. Your ride will be horrible, and it is also dangerous because stock springs are not meant to be cut.

Have you ever wondered why most Honduh guys are bouncing down the road like they are on a dman pogo stick? That's what you'll look like if you cut your springs. And of course along the line of dumb ricer things to do, by no means do the other failsafe ricer lowering mod and heat your springs up either, then for sure you'll have major problems. It's always better to do things the right way the first time and not have to fix and replace later from doing it the cheap and easy way.....

So what coilover brands are good for lowering a car? I will pay good money for good product. I also want to keep my low low look. I hate the gap between the tire and the body. So please tell me some good brand and where i can find them for a good price. HOOK me up!

Skunk2 or Ground control. I got my Skunk2's for about $300, but IMO are well worth it! Check the pics!

I have skunk2 with koni 5 way adjustables. I've never bottomed out but then again I've never hit a speed bump going to fast. on my car u can jump up and down and the car barely moves. I have a really stiff ride but I'm useto it . I drive about 100 plus miles a day. I love my ride. I did hear that obx have the same spring rate as skunks, don't know if it true.
