Why do you need to trim bump stops? And what is best to use? I never trimed mine. I have pro kits, but I am coming back off with them to install illuminas. What do I use to cut them, and what are the benefits, or negatives from trimming the bump stops? IE, why should I or why shouldn't I trim them?

there's not really any negatives in cutting them mostly positives.. the only real purpose in cutting them in half is to allow you more travel after the car is lowered. i would at least do the back, but doing both wont hurt a thing. im sure that you wouldnt want to bottom out on them, so thats why its recomended to cut them. you might even be ok not cutting them, but you might as well if you're taking everything apart.

So, cutting them won't make my car lower, or make the springs settle more will it? Also, what should I use to trim them? A vise and a hacksaw, a table saw, or a razorblade? I can get just about anything to use.

no it shouldnt lower the car any more or make the springs settle any more. for cutting i think a razor black may take too long, but a vise and a hacksaw should do the trick. i used a bandsaw and it made it a quick task.

I use a a Sharp pair of scissors and it took 3 seconds. I only did the rear Bumpstop since that's what the Instruction said to do for my vehicle.

I have the Eibach Pro Kit 1.6" Drop on my 98 Eclipse Spyder. The Spyder uses the same kit as the AWD Eclipse.

When you Install Aftermarket Springs to Lower your Ride such as Eibach Pro-Kit.

For my setup (Eibach Pro-Kit 1.6" drop for a 98 Eclipse Spyder)
The instructions says to cut the rear bumpstop 1.5" on both Driver & Passenger Side.

The bumpstop is just a piece of rubber that sits on tiop of the springs/shocks.

If you take your stock springs off, you know what I mean. If you still have NO Idea what we are talking about then you don't need to worry. Your probably still on stock springs.

it will give your shock more room for travel when you hit a bump also so its more comfy! :D

NO ^^^^ The Rubber Bumpstop doesn't come with the Pro-Kit. It's already on our car (Stock).

Once you take apart your suspension, you will see the yellow rubber bumpstop.
