11045, Short Shifters..

What is a good short shifter that is cheap and very dependable and long lasting? Because the stock shifter I feel takes too long to shift..I heard B&M Short Shifters are good..but I looked around and they were about 150 or 160..and then if I got a shift knobb it would be anywhere from $30-80..Thanks in advance..

http://www.roadraceengineering.com/ecldrivetrain.htm They have the B&M short throw shifter for $155 and I believe the Greedy shifter knobs for $35. I bought my B&M from them and they ship quick. Their hours are a little wierd but I wasn't disappointed buying from them. From what I have read most of the after market shifters are crap. I don't regret spending a few extra $'s for a quality piece like this.

Ive installed the crappy ones and believe me when i say the b&M is the best on the market. You can always go the cheap route and hack it off and weld it. It really isnt a short throw. Its just a short stick same throw. I have installed probably 15 B&M ,never a coplaint. I have the B&M and even went as far as cutting it down about 2 inches on the lathe and retheading it to size . So my shift knob is almost down in the hole. And Its what my old club called the short short throw.

DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT buy a Pilot Motorsports shifter! They are absolutely horrible and very poor quality. Mine came apart on me at like 60 mph or so During a shift (welds broke on the block) SPEND THE MONEY, you'll be much happier. you get what you pay for....

I have a 1G shifter from S&A Motorsports. It's great and I love it :) It's alot shorter then pretty much all 2G shifters. It's a bit harder to install, but the shifts are very tight and smooth, unlike some crappy and sloppy aftermarket shifters.

It was around $70 btw... :)

It all depends on what you are used to. I have the B&M myself, and for the first month I owned it I HATED IT!! Made shifting kinda notchy, and I constantly mis-shifted. Now I like it, but when I get into other people's cars it feels like I am going to throw my shoulder out of place because of the long shifts :) But then again people get into my car and don't like the way it shifts. If you get something you don't like there are PLENTY of kids on here that will buy it.....

I cut and rewelded my shifter, and i love it. It is notchy, but i like that. It goes into each gear with a good clunk, and with precision. I also have the symborski shifter bushing kit, and that along with the cut shifter, makes for a nice damn smooth, accurate shift into each gear. And cutting the shifter will shorten the throw. Mine did anyway.. I believe HurricaneGS on this board still is taking your shifter and cutting/rewelding it for 40 bucks. Check that out..IMO, i'd never spend 100+ bucks for a short shifter when i can do that easily, and work almost just the same..

Yup - What he said ^^^^

I did the same thing and love it. I had mine cut almost 2 inches and have the Greddy Shift knob and the Symbroski Shift Kit.

Looks and feels Sweet.

i wanted to cut the shifter too, but i want it to be a lot shorter. does anyone have any better pictures of they're stock shifters cut, and the amount cut? i know there is a write up on it in the mods section, but does it matter if i cut a lot out of it? i just want to hack the shit out of it. like 2-2.5 inches sounds good to me. should i also cut the head off a bolt and put it in the middle of the shifter and have that welded in it too? woah lots of typing, tia.

holler at hurricane. he has a very nice short shifter. i have it and the symborski kit and the feel is soo tight! the throw is very short. it even makes a little "tink" sound when you shift!

highly recommend it! 40 bux with your core shifter.
