10705, Buzzing sound when braking w/ slotted_drilled Posted by HadesOmega, Jul-12-02 06:36 AM
ok well as some of you may know I just upgraded my brakes to 3000GT SL dual pistons calipers and got some J-speed drilled/slotted rotors in the front and raceconcepts slotted/drilled in there rear. I noticed when I was driving on the freeway that when I'm driving next to a divider I can hear a buzzing (cuz you know you can hear your car more when your right next to a divider cuz of the sound bouncing off of it). It's like ZZZZZZ sound and when I step on the brakes it gets louder.
You peeps that got slotted/drilled rotors do yours make this buzzing sound? Haha I've had stock rotors for so long.

Yep, I just put the raceconcepts on last night and today I noticed the saem thing, I think its just the pads and when they go over the slots/holes, it should wear down a bit and get much better as the pads start to back off the rotor. Im not worried about it.. Well Im also glad you said something about it, I thought I may have done something wrong.

also be sure that that dust shield is not rubbing on anything.. if it was bent even slightly it may be rubbing.. just a thought.

I did my rotors w/ slots_crossdrills last Firday and I am hearing the same thing. I think the pads are rubbing a little bit right now until they wear. Sounds like we're all the same boat and it's not much to worry about :)

haha I hope they're rubbin they're suppose to be rubbing the entire time, thats why disc brakes are better when braking in the wet cuz they're always rubbing.
Hehe well it's not much of a big deal, I just noticed it while I was driving against the wall when I changed lanes to the center lane it went away. I was like "OMG! Something might've come loose and is rubbing on the tires at like 100 MPH!" Haha pictures of brake fluid exploding out of the brake lines and the car spinning out at 100 MPH ran through my head. Hehe then again that's pretty loud if I can notice it with the turbo spooling, wastgate opening, loud ass exhuast, and sterero bumpin. :P
well thanx for the input guys buzz buzz buzz...
