4750, O2 wiring for megasquirt Posted by weebo66, Dec-26-09 09:54 PM
i am looking to get the megasquirt. and before i do i just have a couple questions.
1) i already have a wideband i bought from glowshift.com that came with a bosch LSU 4.9. i was wondering if that will work with the MS. if so where does the wire from the MS unit spice into the wideband. before or after the controller.
2) do you have to use the GM sensors or can you use the stock ones. if you have to use the GM ones do you have to keep the stock ones in or do you replace them and will the sensors fit in the stock places or do i have to retap them for them to fit.

1. Connect an analog output from the wideband controller to the o2 sensor input on megasquirt.
2. You can use the stock sensors with megasquirt, but not MS and the stock ECU at the same time.

so the wire from the megasquirt connects to the wire between the controller and the gauge. can i keep my gauge then and just tap into it.
so i cant use my stock sensors if i use the MS as a piggyback cause i have a 98 rs so how do i put the sensors in do i need to put new ones in while retaining the stock ones and if so where do they go.

Yes, you could tap into it. It's just a 0-5v signal. My Innovate wideband has 2 outputs, so I use 1 for the gauge and 1 for megasquirt.
Well, you would need to put the CLT sensor somewhere in the water and the IAT sensor somewhere in the air intake intake. I drilled and tapped a hole in the water neck for the CLT sensor, and I tapped the EGR hole in the intake manifold for the IAT sensor. If you search, you can find what other people have done.

MS first off isn't a piggyback, and I don't know how you can use it as such. I'm running both computers, but only using the stock ECU for idle control at the moment. Beyond that I have separate water and air sensor, CLT in a T-fitting with the OEM, and MAT in my upper charge pipe. I just tapped the crank and TPS signal.

what about the ignition wires do i tap those or do i cut them from the stock ecu completely. the map sensor can i just replace that with the 3 bar and wire that to the stock ecu and also tap for the megasquirt.

Please search and read. Everything you are asking has been covered many times.
http://msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_Extra_Manual_Index.htm Read all that before you even consider running megasquirt.
Now to answer your question.. The coil is controlled by grounds. The stock ECU will provide +12v to the center wire through the ASD relay. You will need to cut the 2 grounds from the stock wiring and wire them to the megasquirt either through a 4g63 ignitor or internal BIP373s.
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking about the MAP sensor, but Megasquirt uses it's own MAP sensor independent from the stock sensor. No need to wire or tap anything.

so essentially i will have
2- clt sensors 2- iat sensors 2- map sensors
does this mean i need to keep my fcd and or missing link to prevent the fuel cut and save the stock map. also on the pdf file on symtech labs site i didnt see a wire for the map sensor so where does it go. i was really hoping on getting rid of my missing link and just using the 3 bar map if that is at all possible

Before you leap into the Megasquirt world you have a lot more research to do, not only in the megasquirt arena, but in the tuning world in general. Research, read all the megasquirt documentation you can get ahold of and read all the megasquirt threads on here before you even attempt to cut a wire...
EDIT: or contact Gilly... he can show you how to install the whole thing with duct tape and super glue.
