So I just repositioned my relay board into my glove box after it was sat on underneath the passenger seat and broke. I needed to move the actually megasquirt box and my TE wideband. I remember reading somewhere that you weren't supposed to mount the megasquirt box to the body. Does anyone have any insight on this? My plan was to just drill my holes through the floor board for the screws but I didn't want to screw anything up.

I believe the idea is to not ground the megasquirt to the chassis. After isolating the ground of my MS and all sensors to my block I came to understand that connecting the megasquirt to the chassis would void the whole purpose of isolating grounds.

Right... especially with the V3.0 boards, supposedly grounding the case to the chassis causes noise in the tach signal.

Hmmm, well any suggestions on mounting? It needs to go under the passenger seat. Preferably under there because I don't want to snip and butt connect all my relays.

Its a v2.2 board by the way.

Eithrer use nylon bolts and an insulating layer between the box and chassis, or Velcro.

Yeah, I ended up using velcro, quick, easy, and I've seen it used on race cars' modules. :)

I would think it would be a hassle if it were under the passenger seat. Having to remove the seat every time you need to troubleshoot would frustrate me. Of course with all the work I have been doing on mine it just sits on the passenger side floor for easy access. Maybe one day I can stash it and forget about it but until that day it gets passenger status.

Inside the glove compartment is a popular choice that still affords you easy access for troubleshooting.

I do have the circuit board in the glovebox. It is a much better place to trouble shoot and I can lock it up so we people don't screw with it. But as far as mounting I was talking of the grey power box with 3 red LED's (sorry not sure what the real name is for it) and my TEWBO2 sensor. I only need to get to the power box for tuning and I can reach it with it under the seat.

Do as you wish. I was just saying I wouldn't put it there. I like to be able to take it out easily if need be. Having access to the harness is also needed for troubleshooting circuits as well. You may need to check continuity to diagnose symptoms. I have racing seats so it may be a bigger hassle for me than you to get to the area under the seat.

I never put anything electronic under the seats. Living in Colorado the snow on peoples boots and mud and water don't seem like a very electronic friendly environment. I have mine mounted behind the glovebox. Easy to access since you can just fold down the glovebox. I never have to access it since its connected all time to the carputer.

I'm not sure if I could fit the harness and circuit board in the glove box. Seems like it would be a tight fit. If not though I do like the idea of mounting the harness behind the glove box.

I have my MS mounted to the passenger side of the center console to that plastic trim piece. Imagine sitting in the passenger seat, it is right about where your left knee would rest next to the stereo. Easy to monitor the LEDs and have access to the serial cable. But again I usually roll with my laptop plugged into it as well.

I think a couple of us SoVA guys have it there without issues.

I have mine mounted in the same spot as CODE4, only with velcro to the sheet metal, as I unfortunately have not any interior in the Talon.

I've heard from some professional engine management installers to NEVER mount onto the floor (includes under/behind the seat), because of what djtrickee said, how EASY it is for water to flood there and instantly ruin the electronics.
