3192, MS setup help please
Posted by mreigle, May-23-07 02:58 AM
Requesting help from the gods.

I have the megasquirt wired with a innovative LC-1 O2. I have one of Terry's builds (that i bought from another member)with a MS1 68HC908 processor on a V2.2 board and a 300 kpa sensor.

Terry's software cd came with the 024s extra firmware but I am having issues downloading it to the MS even with the boot jumper on and off. I can load the 029v extra without an snag but the 550cc msq file that came on Terry's cd to go with this unit doesn't react at all to the stimulator with the 029v extra firmware installed.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

I'm not sure if I'm right or not, but I'm willing to try to help...I'm sure a more experienced member will chime in.

My guess is that msq file that is on the cd is compatible only with the 024s extra firmware. You might have to find an msq from another member running the 029v firmware. Again I don't know if this is true or not but I'm trying to help.

The stimulator will not work on a 420a MS.

Thanks for your help Terry.

It worked before I loaded the extra files and the 550cc setup.

I also had the MS unit communicating with all the sensors in the car until I added extra and 550cc msq.

Stim. worked fine with mine. I am running MS1 v2.2 MSnS 029v. Also works fine in the car with fuel and spark running 029v.

What size injectors and turbo are you using?

If the MS is set to 420a code then the stimulator will not work. the stimulator cannot output a simulated 420a crank signal. in order to use the stim you have to test it as an MSns setting. It worked because before you loaded the settings you were not on 420a code. Search all over and you will find this info, its nothing new.

So what I am doing wrong?

The Stimulator is not supposed to work with the 420a code selected. You are doing nothing wrong. It only works for DJ because he is using the MSNS setting which is not the setting you use once the MS is installed in your car.

You need to read on loading maps and firmware. You dont understand why it doesnt work when you load a map I created off my car, if you understood exactly what happens when you load that map, you would understand why things are the way they are. Do some searching and reading. This is the easiest part of the MS concept. I suggest you do a bit more reading before you jump into the pool.

Back to reading...

With over 2000 hours into the ride, another 200 hours into engine management isn't too bad. As you know I have been trying for the last 6 months to tune this 420A. It would be nice to have a helping hand every now and then. It has made me learn more doing it on my own.

Don't forget you have two experienced 2gnt ms tuners/owners right here in Orlando mr batman :thumbsup

Joel and I would have no problem helping guide you into the pool with some floaties at first hehe. I'll talk with him bout it in a bit when he gets off work today. You have a dedicated laptop and what not for the car correct? I have my laptop with everything Terry originally sent me still on it along with whatever other variations of msq's may be there as well, and I know Joel is currently running the dsm 450's but something can be worked out. Would love to see your car on the road performing as good as she looks buddy.

I'll be damned if I can't find a battery to power up my other cell phone. Not sure if my number was the same then or not, but it's 407-666-3970 now...hit me up or pm me with your number, and we'll get that sexy car running like a raped ape as it should :thumbsup
