After much consideration, ive decided to keep my RS. From now on, it will basically be a once in a while type driver, and a a weekend drag car. i want to be able to finally tune the thing to perfection, and ive decided on the megasquirt setup. Does anyone have any "base" settings to go by? how about some MS testimonials, or point me to a thread with them in it. sorry if this has been posted a million times before. ive been outta the loop recently. im very confident in my ability in being able to put the megasquirt unit together on my own, being an electrical engineer and all. is there a "preferred" supplier for this product? thanks guys.

Lee (MrSlick) is the preferred supplier for the kit. i assume you've already read everything on the megasquirt homepage, including their manuals? i am considering this route as well and i know it can be frustrating looking for good posts about the subject because so many posts regarding MS just contain questions and restatements. i'm sure someone has some pages bookmarked and will post shortly.

Thanks Cyan. Your car is looking great as usual. Nice to see you back on the board again. Last time i was "around" here a lot, i dont remember you posting much anymore. Thanks for the help/info.

What kinda wideband sensor does the MS need as well?

i have been wondering the same thing about the wideband
i havent seen anything that specifies
but it would be nice to know if there are any that just wont work

i am looking at the plx-m300 because it says that it "has 0-5v leads to feed any stand alone engine management system?

I am waiting on my MSnS to arrive and I will be using the PLX-M300 as well. I have already installed it in my car.And as far as I know, basically any wide band will work. But don't hold me to that.

Here is a link to a discussion on wideband o2 sensors for the MS.

I would love to add to the conversation, but I have been waiting for over a month to get mine shipped... (ordered it 2nd week of January)
Lee(Mr Slick)is the one to speak with who could probably answer any questions.

The Megasquirt will work with most of the wideband controllers I've seen. It will accept both non-linear and linear 0-5 volt signals. Using the TechEdge 2A0 system for a quick example...

I tapped the WBlin pin, and hooked it directly to the oxygen sensor input for the MS. The only thing you need to do is tell the MS that it's looking at a linear signal, so it lines it up with this:

In theory, you could also tap pin 1, which has a non-linear response that looks like this:

I haven't tried the later yet.

Looks like the non-lin pin is for the DIY setup with the NTK sensor.

I wasn't aware that the TechEdge (which is DIYWB based) started using a linear output.

The Megasquirt itself can take a wideband signal from any wideband controller that can output a 0-5V signal.

The important part is that the Megatune software needs to know the voltage/afr slope/curve in order to be able to use that wideband signal for both datalogging, and for calibrating the closed loop AFR table.

There are a number of options to choose from in the Megatune software at this time, the choices so far implemented are as follows:

#group LAMBDA_SENSOR "Lambda Sensor Type"
# set NARROW_BAND_EGO "Narrowband Sensor"
#unset DIY_TechE_NonL "DIY-WB or Tech Edge sensor giving a non-linear output"
#unset TechEdge_Lin "Tech Edge sensor giving 0-5V 9-19:1 AFR"
#unset Innovate1_2 "Innovate sensor giving 1-2V 10-20:1 AFR"
#unset Innovate0_5 "Innovate sensor giving 0-5V 10-20:1 AFR"
#unset WB_Non_Above "Wideband sensor but none of the above types"
#endgroup

This is taken from the settings.ini file in the Megatune\carMtCfg directory. This is where you set your type of wideband sensor in use.
Others can be added as long as the output is known.
