638, 2005 SO Shirt Brainstorm Thread

Okay. I know this is being discussed elsewhere, but I wanted to get some serious input from the serious members here. For the most part, you all know me and how much this place means to me. I don't give a shit if I win some contest and get to claim I designed the SO shirt and free or not, I'm buying whatever shirt is offered, but I really want to get some input as to what would make the best shirt design. I could give a shit who wins, as long as the shirt isn't stupid and going to embarrass the community.

What should be included in the design? A 2GNT? Anyone's in particular? Do we want to display the black door handles or single tip muffler? Maybe the gauge cluster that lacks the little 4G63 bost gauge?

How about the Team 2GNT logo? I like the one design with the Eagle and Diamond Star in the lower right corner of the picture. Its very classy, but the rest of the image, and the caption in particular, just don't do it for me. I think the logo is a big part of who we are, but do we need it?

Phrasing: Dino said some funny shit last year and I think a lot of us would crack up if we saw someone wearing a shirt that said "Fuck a bunch a toll." or "Finally making enough power to break stuff." I think we would have to edit some of the DarkOne's colorful wordings to make such a shirt safe for those with children in attendance or back at home (for some reason, all I can think of right now is Greg and Superman :shrug). There's always the classic, Go fast with class.

Some other ideas or food for thought: I still have that coat hanger around here somewhere from the Best Western if that would be an idea. Maybe a giant warning label on the back of the shirt that said something like "WARNING: This car equipped with a turbo upgrade which required the removal of more than five bolts." (I have no idea how many bolts are required to swap out a snail on a 4G63, but it's probably much easier than installing a complete system, right? And while we're talking about the number of bolts, you always hear 4G63 guys talking about their 6- and 7-bolts. Well, don't we have an 8-bolt? (Keep in mind, I'm still a long ways from knowing everything. :P ) How about something like "This DSM has an 8-bolt in it."

I'm just getting so stoked about this thing coming up and I want to do something that kicks ass for the site, not just for me personally. Can I get you guys to throw out some ideas for us to play with? I just slapped that b/w wheel gap thing together in about a half an hour to try and get my brain fired up about this project. What would make the coolest shirt ever? What would make any 4G63 owner who wasn't a member over here wonder "Just what the hell are those crazy 2GNT guys up to this year?"

If you don't want to give me any advice because you're planning on winning the contest, no biggie, but I think this could be a great place to get some serious ideas from serious people who always go. I think it's best if everyone has access to such a resource. If someone else can come up with a better design than I because they found inspiration here, fuckin a. That's what it's all about.

I think this thread should be for discussion of design ideas, and the original for sharing the images.

Now people get in here and give those of us who have some artistic abilities some fresh ideas! You have to crank the motor over a couple times before it takes off on its own, remember?

For 2GNT.

I would stay away from quotes from last year. This is the '05 Shootout. Plus nobody else would understand, including new 2GNTers to the SO this year.

I like the idea of using imagery that defines a 2GNT. Low wing on the 97-99, NT gauge cluster like you mentioned, or there is the simple 420A valve cover. Very easy to single out and identify as a 2GNT-only part.

I would stick with something along those lines along with a good general quote. I do like "Finally Fast Enough to Break Stuff" though. Anyone can understand and appreciate that.
