Nice. Buscher has changed the rules to allow for 4g63 powered cars ONLY, completely and effectively removing us from participation in ANY event next year.
Thanks Dave. We may not be many, but we ARE there, and e DO encourage participation... or we did. So much for trying...

That would be sweet.
The problem is participation. Look a the "Unofficial" class from this year - we had 8 turbo cars, the bare minimum I asked for, and no NA cars. I would truly hate to see a big 420a/2GNT related vendor shell out the coin for such an event only to have 15 people show up, and only 8 run. That would make us all look bad.

I'm amazed to see the 2005 posts have already started... Let's just say the structure may be different, but 420a's will be among the crowd next year. This I'm sure of.
As for the attendance, you are absolutley right Dino. I live closer to Norwalk than anyone and didn't even make it because my Grandfather keeled over dead on Aug. 12th.(the showing was from 12-6 on Sunday)I've begun to think this whole event was just doomed.

420a's can run...jus in bracket 1 and 2 like last year...he jus said no 420a class. Whilst he is still a prick...at least he din't become a really big prick.
Also, he's lookin at getting an autocross going for that saturday and an open house/import drag day on friday
Good Shit IMO :thumbsup
EDIT: Editted for your edit. :)

Personally, I am making plans to go whether or not I can run doesn't matter to me. If I want to know what my girl will do, The I can always go out to Dinwiddie and run on the test and tune nights. Anyone else?
|
14, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by VX100, Aug-24-04 03:49 AM
Hey, I showed up Dino, just a day too late :(
As long as I can run in bracket, I'll run and try to take another trophy away from the 4g63 crowd. If not, then either A. I'll borrow a 4g63 from a friend and race that or B. I'll just ride out there and enjoy spending time with all my friends again :thumbsup
I'll go either way, but I've got too much to worry about in the short term to plan anything now!

17, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by micyek, Aug-31-04 03:29 PM
you want to make a statement? Get your car tuned to it's fullest potential, get your asses to the Shootout next year, make a pass or two Friday night, and on Saturday we all get in a big line at Buscher's and hand David our slips one by one. But we need doers...not talkers. It's easy to sit at your little computers and say this and that about blah blah. But it takes work and comitment to show how much you really care about the event and our 420A powered cars. For me the SO this year wasn't about the actuall event...it was about having fun with all you guys and seeing and doing shit I've never done before.
I for one will still go...as long as I have reason to...and you all, are my reason. And IMO a 420A SO would be a horrible failure just judging on the showing that we got in Norwalk this year. :shrug
Buscher will phear my 15.949 next year! :7

I wonder if 2gnt.com sponsored the shootout if he would let us run. :shrug It may be hard to pull off, but it seems like money is the only motivation for this man. I know we wouldn't be able to come up with much, but mabye we can do SOMETHING.
Todd, I'm pritty sure you can't even run the brackets. I'm yet to see David clarify anything on the subject. Perhaps ill call his shop and ask him to clarify for us.
|
21, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by DarkOne, Aug-24-04 08:43 AM
I wouldn't be opposed to contacting him regarding having 2gnt.com sponsor a 420A class. That depends entirely on whether we can actually run or not.
|
25, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by corsagsbo, Aug-31-04 03:30 PM
I know Dave somewhat personally. He knows these cars can run. Hell, he's taken quick note to a local 10 second neon I helped build. The actual thing may be around it being his "own" sponsored event. Buschur does not offer any product under his name for our engines, and if more supporting vendors show up to our backing with fast cars, it is not necesarily for his benefit... This is merely my take, but from a business standpoint I can see it... He has always been 4g63 not necessarily DSM's. Just give it time, and things may change before NEEEEXXXXTTTTT YEEEEAAAAAARRRRR. I'll call him.

Unless you are running 10's or faster you won't be noticed at the shootout.
It is a different world there, where stock cars run 13's and daily drivers run low 11's.
Don't think a 420a running 12's will get any kind of special attention.

might as well not try to be slick as i just called the best western and made my reservations. she said there was "some car thing" that weekend and since they were close to the raceway, rooms right now are 109 a night. better than some of you guys paid this year, but probly because i am booking 11 months in advance. :D she also said i was the first person to book a room for that weekend. that means i win at life. but darn, i was hoping to beat them to the punch and lock in my rates before they realized what weekend it was. maybe dave calls all the surrounding hotels and then gets a small cut of their earnings for the weekend. i could def see it happening. see you suckers there.

19, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by DarKReaLity, Aug-31-04 03:29 PM
i felt i wasn't ready this year regardless, if i was to go out there, i didn't want to go there and just do crappy passes...i want to go there and make people awe what i got and show we have badass engines. i wanted to go so bad this year but i had doubts beacause i want my car to kick major ass when i'm out there. it sucks being broke at times, but i'm sure for me 2005 would be a better year for me. that's tremendous BS with the next shootout. i hope they consider exceptions for 420A's highly modified.

haha, all this talk gets me exited for 05. I guarantee to you guys that the RS will have run down the track a time or two before we go this year :) But regardless, if the RS wouldve run 10's last year, we would have turned some major heads. We think the problem is solved also. The ignition box was acting up.
FOr all those that dont know/didnt go to the shootout, The RS ran great thru 1st and 2nd gear but when it hit 3rd, it went incredibly lean.
And waht some if not all dont know, we did run our best 60-foot time ever at the 04 SO, a 1.66 , SSSSMOK'IN!!!!(Previously, a 1.72 was its best, WHAT A PICK UP IN E.T. That would have been if all was goin good)
But i know a couple of 10's out of some 420A's would turn Dave's head (hopefully) and, i think trying to get 2GNT to sponsor a 420A is an ok idea, one problem is the RS would be left out....haha. My dad HATES with a passion being a ringer, and would rather see you guys duke it out...
BUt anyway, cant wait til 05!!!

I have no idea what is going on for 05. I haven't even thought about it to be honest. So much can happen between now and then. As of now i'm out.
I'm very very low on money right now and can't afford it just like last year.
If things change and I get a new job. I'd def. be there.

hopefully this will be my first time at the shootout, thanks to close connections at the Sandusky newspaper(only 20 minutes away from norwalk) i will most likely roaming as a photographer, but saddly, not running my car(if its running by then.) love to finally catch up with some of you guys though.

177, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by CrazyEclipse, Dec-01-04 03:39 PM
I was talking a few local DSMers about the 2005 shootout and they are unsure about which hotel to stay at. NEDSM stays at the econolodge, 2gnt moreless stays at the Best Western/Norwalk Inn....
Kinda gets a little confusing as to where every place is so I conjured up this map for them and for anyone else to show exactly where everything is. It is to scale, so the key is correct.
|
178, RE: 2005 DSM Shootout Posted by DR1665v2, Dec-01-04 04:38 PM
Fuckin a, Michelle! Nice work. Look how close the Norwalk Inn is to everything! :P (Frank :nono ) Well, I guess if you're watching the free porn, you probably don't want to be bothered anyways, eh? ;)
Gotta go BW this year imo.

BW. That is where every 2gnt person will be hanging out so why not stay there.

Like that?! LOL
I wish someone would have made that pre 04 SO, so I could have planned a bit better. Originally wasnt going to go, but I was peer pressured into it man! Very fucking glad I was tho. I just hope that the map will show some of the SO virgins how the city is laid out and how far hotels and NRP are from each other and pursuade them to go. It's once a year and no matter what should not be missed.
I would love to stay at the BW, but I'm gonna have a big ass truck pulling a big ass trailer and it didnt seem like much room was available, so next best place and mucho cheaper than the BW AND its got free internet acess AND their beds are REAL queen/full ect sized beds!! LOL Sheeeeeet..... I'm gonna miss the p0rn at the Norwalk Inn.... Frank, I'm invading your room for a time to watch me some p0rn and make up the words. Serve up some Bucknutty's all around! weUT!

I parked at the BW with my Truck and Trailer last year. Along the curbs and in the grass behind Arby's are fine for that. There were at least 4 trucks and trailers at the BW last year.
The BW is the shit. :thumbsup

When he said "wanking," he didn't mean "flying a kite" or fishing with a pole" as they say in Thailand, I believe. :P
Best Western baby. This year is gonna be great. If I have to take out a loan to get my brother, John, to come along, I'll do that imo. So there's two of us coming from Phoenix and Dan (FlyinESI) has stated that he wants to come out with us since he'll be an official az2gnter by then too. Blue Moon in Vegas has said he wants to come along, so I'm optimistic there will be 4 mean, turbocharged DSMs rolling east out of Flagstaff on Interstate 40 with plans to crash a couple parties in Wichita. (HiOnPSI, SonicBewm - that's you guys. Be ready to roll with us the next day.) }(

This is tight! Kinda new to the forum, but i am there.. My car will be done in three months and i should put down around 550hp in my 420a.. Even If bracket racing is the only thing they are leaving open it will be alot fun to represent 2gnt. I had a dsm did not like it at all peace of shit in my opinion. I like the 420a much better. I have ran a 12.8 not impressive to a dsm but should blow that out of the water this summer... Hope to see yall there..

portfueler gt35/40r turbo digital 6 ignition JE Pistons, Crower rods Large intercooler w/3in piping I have more, but that is what I am relying on to make that kind of power. I am sure I can do it without head work or cams, but if I come short that is the first thing I will do. 4g63's do it all the time and the head from what I understand flows more than a 4g63( more power potential posibly, nobody has really pushed it to it's limmit). But I believe over 30+ psi on that turbo will get it there.

THE RULES CLEARLY SAY 4G63'S ONLY. If you sneek a 4g64 into the car and it is DOHC I am not inspecting close enough to see if you have done it. I would say go ahead. As for any other NON 4G63, NO you cannot run it.
We will allow the 2nd gens with the Chrysler engine to run, the NT's.
