99739, What clutch should I get?
Posted by shwaller, Jul-11-06 12:11 PM
I just finished building a botom end for my 97 eclipse with all the regular goodies we all dream about. JE low compression pistons in a .40 over bore, eagle rods, ect. I plan on running at least 20 pounds of boost and want to be able to go up. My question is what kind of clutch would be the best. Should I stay modular or go non modular. What stage should I get 3,4,5? And finally I already have a light weight fidanza flywheel for a non modular setup and would really like to use it so if you all advise the non modular setup what clutch works best with this flywheel?
Thanks for the help guys.

I would suggest contacting South Bend Clutch to discuss this with them. They are in the business of putting together clutch systems for enthusiasts using a variety of materials and could likely make you something using your flywheel. Hit up the search for more information.

Or go modular... Idiot proof install, no centering required.

Go for something unsprung... I'm saying that because I've had the worst luck with springs falling out.

SPend the coin on a Clutchmasters, or call Southbend. If i ever kill my Stage 4, Southbend is who'll be getting my money.

I've got the South Bend Clutch in my car, I love it. Its their best one they offer for our cars, the DXD-F series. The guy over there said i really dont want that clutch as it wont be very streetable, but damn, its fine to me :) A bit grabby, and a little chatter, but its holding perfect at 18 psi. I've done at least 10+ 18 psi runs at the track with it so far, and thats only with 500 miles on it..
