Well I finished my timing and she's purring like a kitten :) I however am under the impression that my cat is getting clogged because of the loss of power and i have this carbon smell. Should i get an OEM or pay a lil more for the OBX? will i actually notice any more power? It's advertised a "10-15 HP" increase. lol I doubt that much but will it be worth it to get? I do plan on getting a cat back soon as well. Thanx!

I bought one of those back when i was NA. Its a nice peice of work but its not a catalytic converter as advertised, its a test pipe. As long as you dont have smog testings where you are at... go for it.

It's a test pipe AND more expensive than OEM??? That makes no sense, a test pipe should cost no more than $25-$30 and an OEM cat should cost $150-$200. Are you guys talking about the same piece?

Per your question, if you're putting in a cat to comply with emissions, get an OEM, I don't believe there is any aftermarket high-flow cat out there that is smog compliant. If you just want power, get the test pipe and live with the CEL it'll throw, this should be a prerequisite for turbo BTW.

OBX is garbage, I had the header and cat, the header broke under HEAT! and the car was a hollow chrome tube that did nothing but make it louder

While I'm not in a smog controlled enviroment but I don't want to smell the gasses everytime i start the car or come to a stoplight. So I guess my best bet would be to go OEM?

you will loose some torque with a testpipe.

If you're NA stay away from test pipes.

If you really want to go High flow, go with RRE's set up or OEM (proven up to 200HP) if you are making that much NA.

Get a real cat, OEM is definately not the best flowing. But OBX is a resonated test pipe.

i have a magnaflow CAT. its high flow, and im sure thats what you are looking for. i paid 25 for it, been working fine since ive had it.

change your damn exhasut before you do this too btw

the obx cat is just a test pipe as mentions above the only differance between it and a test pipe is that it doesn't throw a cel. but you will not pass emissions, but you don't have to worry about it so go with it but i would do the cat back first but that is up to you.
