I am having car issues that i am frustrated with now. I turn on the car and the vacuum is 0, and sounds like shit. When i rev it up it revs up fine and settles down good and then turns off. The car will run for a little bit if i have the cps unplugged, but it turns off as soon as i plug the sensor up. The car started good with my vacuum reading -18 and it idling perfect with the first new cps.. The next day is when it started doing it again. I just bought the a cps (second one) and it stills does it. If i have it plugged up and turn the car on, it shuts off real quick. I have replaced the IAC, re-timed the car plenty of times with no change and it being lined up well. All my grounds are good as well as my vacuum lines. What else could it be, i pulled the crank sensor and it looked fine, it is faily new. I would like to drive this car sometime before i die.

To me, it sounds like a cam/crank sensor problem here.

Sense you somewhat narrowed it down to something with the CPS though, have you used a mutlimeter and tested those wires? Maybe you have a short somewhere in it and when your plugging it in, its fucking with the PCM?

The wires are getting 9 and 5 volts, and the ground is good. I am thinking ecu for some reason, maybe i need to buy the crankshaft sensor.

did you have the cam magnet off for any reason? any posibility you accidentally left it off?

Ok, this is a list of things checkerd:

-replaced cam position sensor
-replaced IAT
-timing dead on
-crankshaft sensor (old, but will be replacing tomorrow)
-I got fuel and spark
-new msd coil pack

I am suspecting ecu, but still not sure. It starts with the cps connector disconnected from sensor, but after a minute it shuts off. Now with the connector on the sensor, it starts but shuts off immediately. Now i have to give it gass while starting in order for it to start. I will keep you updated.

checked the map sensor?

Yeah, i bought a new map sensor a few days ago. It runs real rough after getting it started. The asd and fuel pump relays are new.

If you take a wire off the coil pack, and check the spark there, are you getting constant spark while cranking or just a flash every now and then?

This problem sounds a little like mine that I had awhile ago, and it was a broken dowel pin on the cam, did you check both those dowel pins too?

Something seems to be telling the ECU to shut it down. I didnt think the CPS ran off of 9v though, but I dont remember. Did you say you actually replaced the CPS too?

This one is starting to boggle my mind...

I pulled both cam gears and checked the dowels, they were fine. I replaced the cps two times, i have not replaced the crankshaft sensor yet. This has been a pain in the ass for me and everyone that is helping me with this. Thanks for suggestions.

Thanks, i am gonna pick one up in a few. Cylinder number has spark, but not as great as the other 3 do, but i dont know much about spark, so i dont know if that has any indication for something else.
How do you tell if the crank sensor is bad, i am debating if i want to buy it since i am not sure. I thought when it goes bad, it wont start and my car starts and shuts off afterwards.


Edit: I replaced crank shaft position and the coolant temp sensor, still runs like crap and doesnt stay on. Once again, with the cam posistion sensor connected it shuts off immediately and with it unplugged it runs longer and my vacuum hits about 10. I am gonna buy an ecu and see if it is that because i have checked spark, fuel, injectors, CPS, Crankshaft position sensor, IAT, CTS, TPS good, IAC good, map sensor, no vacuum leaks, good compression, checked volts on almost all sensors, new coil pack, new wires, and if i forgot something i probably have checked it. I will update when i get the ecu.
