Does anyone have a problem driving in the rain with this intake? The placement of the thing kinda bugs me and I'm afraid to drive in the rain too long for the fear of water being sucked up into my engine. I know I can get one of the water filter thingys but it's $45 and you have to modify the intake. Does anyone else have an unmodified one and drives in the rain(heavy or light) all the time? Any other input on the subject would be great.

I bought one used off of ebay with the bypass filter already on it. Yeah the placement of the filter bothered me too, especially in the area that I live in. With the bypass filter on it you really won't be able to feel much of a difference in my opinion(that's power above stock). Weigh the risks for your own application. Search and read, there may not be much of a difference in power between the v2 and a short intake with a quality filter on it. At least that route will resolve any worries about water suction.

If you're military, get the bypass and take the filter to the hobby shop on base. If you can't figure out how to do the modifications yourself, I'm sure you can find someone around there who can cut a straight line for you.

Full CAIs are a big risk to the engine. They do not provide gains worthy of such a risk, especially not a name brand piece of pipe like the AEM.

If nothing else, clamp the filter on your TB and toss the pipe in the backseat when it rains. Bypass valve or not, I don't trust CAIs and would never suggest one to any 2GNTer.

I like my v2... but I don't mind spending the 3 minutes to take it off and put on the stock air intake system when a major storm is upon me.

DO NOT hack up the v2 to put on a bypass valve. The v2 works its magic by functioning as a helmholtz resonator. If you cut the intake to put on a bypass valve, you've completely ruined the physical dimensions that make the resonator function. You can cut a v1, you CANNOT cut a v2 for a bypass!

just take the thing off if you are expecting a lot of water in the streets. I've had mine on for maybe 3 years now, no problem

I believe I'll start swapping them in and out then. Never thought about doing that.
