99372, Exhaust Vibrations? Have A Few Questions Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Jun-17-06 11:06 AM
Hey, I have an Apexi n1 3" cat-back along with the 2.5" high flow cat. Being as how the cat no longer has a hanger and that whole middle section just wobbles around, I was curious as to if exhaust hanger mounts could be welded on without causing damage. I would like to do this hoping it will reduce vibration and not really ground much to the chassis and I have also had a problem with the exhaust bolts loosening. I have lost one bolt where the cat meets the apexi n1. Anyone know what size bolt that would be? All helpful is useful.
TIA
Mike

I bet you shouldn't have any issues with mounting a hanger to the midsection near or on the cat. As for the missing bolt, you can just find a bolt that is a bit smaller in diameter that will pass through the hole completely, then put washers on either side, lock washers would be a good idea, too, and a nut. Slip it through, crank it down, done.

I was thinking about using a smaller bolt and some washers, but if I could get the rite size bolt i'd rather do that. Also the thing with the hanger my question is do you think it would cause more chassis vibration or reduce it. All the other hangers have that rubber bushing that I would suspect reduces the vibration.
