so i bought this the other day http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4638544798&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT, and for another 11, i got the upgraded palm m500. came with everything i need, cable for the car, cable to hook up to my computer, OBDgauge, palm'n'stein and whatever else, but when i go to use it, it doesnt work, it wont log anything except rpms and tps, and it wont read codes or erase them either. OBDgauge works, thats about it, and i guess its cause im ATX since i did some searching, but apparently theres a way around that but i cant find out how. and it seems run4cvr knows how, but he hasnt been on in months, and doesnt get on aim, so i was wondering if anyone else knows how to get it to work for me?

anyone know anything about this?

Why did you pick up some random, eBay logger? Doesn't it come with instructions? Looked like the CD in the eBay picture said something like OBDloggers.com. Might give them an email and ask them about initial set up.

I didn't look at the listing too much, but I know that, if you buy a used DigitalTuning PocketLogger, you have to register before Mike will provide any support for it. If this guy was selling something used, the manufacturer might require you to register it before they help you. So much for saving money, right?

Personally, I would send it back and get the PocketLogger from Digital Tuning. I've used it several times and it works smashingly. I don't know how this thing will really work, but if it's anything like PocketLogger, you'll have to connect the cable to the PDA and then to the OBD2 scan port (fuck, just remembered something), turn on the PDA and open the program. With the PocketLogger, you need to go into setup or something and let the software test out the connection with the ECU - samples per second and that sort of thing - then you simply click on the parameters you wish to monitor and watch them do their thing. If you want to make an actual log, you select what you want to log, click "record," and then do your driving.

They're not that hard, but you should contact the seller for instructions of some sort, I guess. I've never heard of that set up.

well thats just it, it came with instructions, and i followed them, but it didnt work. i also emailed the guy, and he said he tested it before he sent it to me, and it worked for him, but hes a manual. i also went to palm's site, and registered the code on the back of the scanner, but i dont think anything happened, although i havent tried it since then.

The first person I ever met in Arizona with a 2GNT was run4cvr. He contacted me to see if I had an atx so he and Mike could test some things out with the PocketLogger on OBD2 cars with auto-trannies. I didn't. I bet your problem has something to do with your not having a manual trans.

well thats just it, i was searching around, and seen a few posts about people having the same problem as me, only logging rpms and tps, and it wont check codes or erase them, and i also mentioned in my post saying that run4cvr is the guy to talk to because he mentions that the ATX problem has been solved, but doesnt say how, all i could find out was something about having a hacked version of the software i guess, im not sure. and he hasnt been on since march, and i added him to AIM but he hasnt gotten on, so i dont know what to do now

John has his hands full these days and likely won't be on AIM or answering PMs for a while. Besides, he used to work for Digital Tuning, not whatever brand of Logger this thing is. I'd say your best bet is to search this forum and DSMtuners for the exact name of your logger. If it's "obdloggers.com" search for that. That's going to be the only way you're going to find anything about it.

Hope you can get it to work for you.

Maybe you could scan your instruction sheet and host it online (or type it all out in a post) so we can maybe take a look at what you're missing. I just did a search of the forum and this is the only thread on 2GNT with "obdloggers.com" in it. DSMtuners is having database issues at the moment, so you'll have to check it later.

trust me driggs, i did exactly what the instructions said to do, and like i said, OBDgauge will work, and it will log RPMS and TPS, but thats it, and i did search for a while on here and tuners, and like i said, i seen people have the same problem, but no one resolved it, all i seen was mcgyvr say this

bloodyangel1- I don't know if you got rid of the datalogger yet but I had the same problem you did using the OBDGauge software. I also have an automatic but I'm using a different OBDII interface. I don't think that matters though.

To make a long story short, the problem is with how our cars initialize with the interface and OBDGauge software causing only TPS and RPM to come up. My solution was to rewrite a line or two in the software's code to force it to show all the gauges at once. It works but I'm thinking of finding a different way of doing it. Everything else with the software worked great though.

I don't know how the author feels about people redistributing altered versions of his software and I don't have a way to host files. I can show you what I changed in the code though. I thought about contacting the author and telling him about how thing are with our cars but never got around to it.
