Posted by rs_sleeper98, May-09-06 06:15 AM
hello everyone ive been apart of the forum for awhile but haven't actually been on the forum in a few months. i deployed to kuwait in february and im stuck here until august. ive made some large numbers in $$$ and so far for my 98 rs i have bought a VIS OEM carbon fiber hood, AEM wideband A/F, greddy e.g.t., and greddy oil pressure. new rotors and pads are on the way (to my house) and im outta of ideas of what to get next... here's the good ole' mods list

AEM CAI
DC SPORTS 4-2-1 header
MEGAN RACING test pipe
APEXi N-1 catback
APEXi S-AFC II
CROWER stage 2 cams
CROWER titanium valve springs and retainers
AEM adjustable cam gears
COMPETITION stage 1 clutch
front upper and rear sturt bars
2" drop
KYB AGX's all around
B&M short throw shifter
PROTHANE motor mounts...
18" rollers

i think that's it but i could be wrong. so any ideas of what could be next? try to stick with performance

You definitely seem like you need a turbo. Boost that baby.

im pushing 140k on the odometer and im iffy about putting any sort of pressure into those cyliders even though most of the miles are highway. if i were to boost than i would have to rebuild... ill be honest, im also iffy about tearing into my motor cause i don't wanna jump timing like i almost did on the cams and blow the motor... ive thought about a new throttle body or like a 75 dry shot...

Ehh, do a comp. test and a leakdown. If the comp numbers are good. Boost it. Or rebuild it, then you won't have to worry. But definetly turbo is the way to go.

haha you have 140k miles and don t wanna go turbo ? i spun a rod bearing 4k ago but my compression test is perfect and the car runs strong as it is, and even I am going turbo.....pussy ! j/k

just make sure your oil setup and fuel delivery are good, i m not gonna install my turbo until i am 120% sure that my oil feed and drain are good and that I run rich and not lean...and keep it at ~7 PSI

Given the amount of time you have before you get back to play with it, why not consider picking up a premade bottom end? You've got three months to go, bro.

Consider Howell or Exile for a pre-assembled shortie, then get your head milled when you return and bolt it together. Just like that, you've got a spare engine in running condition to drop in, should any problems arise.
