hi.
i had a bad radiator. some cheap plastic crap. a peice broke off and i mended it with some of that bonding putty. the bond lasted a week or two and i forgot to get a new radiator cause i was so busy.

then it broke again. i put a temp seal on it and drove it home. had to go get my check one day and the car just started to overheat on the way back and stoped running. i was still rolling so i cranked the engine. it turned back on but blew out black smoke. when i was re patching the radiator some peices of the putty(the old hard peices) fell inside of the radiator. i'm thinking it was a clog. when i got home and shut the car off. it wouldnt start back up again.

is my engine fucked? do i just need a new radiator?

Buy a new radiator!

Depending on how hot you overheated it, you may have done a significant amount of damage. Nice going.

Any putty that fell into the radiator is inside the radiator and not the problem. The radiator inlet is on top just for info purposes.

What you need to do now is a compression test to see what state the motor is in. Since it wont start, you need to find out if you have injector pulse, compression, and spark.

Check these things before you go buying a radiator. You can run the car with no coolant for a couple minutes then it must be shut down immediatly to avoid damage. The reason i tell you to do this before you buy a radiator is because a new or used motor is not cheap and I wouldnt spend much if your going to junk the car.

If you dont have the tools to perform the tests i posted then tow it to a shop and let a competant mechanic look at your screw up so that the shop can have a good laugh at your expense.

Sorry if i seem harsh but mistakes like this are not honest mistakes. I have no patience for damage cause by laziness. I understand your busy, we all are.
