Is there a dead give away my o2 sensor is bad? I have a CEl, and getting like 15mpg combined with my new header and cat? I still have the stock o2 sensor in the downpipe

Could be. When I got 13mpg, I switched the o2 sensor out from 02sensors.com and got my old milege. Maybe even better.

verry possible, esp if its the original. i changed mine a while back and i get phenominal gas mileage. also a minor tune up wouldent help if its been a while.

O2 sensors can easily go bad and not throw a CEL. This is very common. Bad mileage is a sure sign yours is getting old and inaccurate. The only way to know for sure if its bad is to install a new one in the pipe and run the two side by side to compare the readings. This is a nice feature if you are running a wideband.

Basically what i am telling you is to just buy a new one and go with a tune up if you havent done that in the past 8 months.

I think the dead give away would be if the CEL is for the front 02 sensor... Go to autozone and get it checked.

Hey guys I went to Autozone today and had them scan it. Yea it was the front o2 sensor I think im stuck with buying bosch for right now its only like $45 and its a direct replacment, no splicing (reason being I have to leave wednesday night for a trip to chicago) Thanks for the help!

too bad you gotta have it so soon..youll be buyin another sensor in 3-6 months with that bosch from what iv heard SEVERAL times on this board. the one from oxygensensors.com is only slightly more expensive (56 total for me) and iv never heard of anyone having a problem with theirs..ever.

I had a bosch on for a while and I have a nippon denso now I didn't really notice a difference with any of them they both do the job. I was burning oil and I was still getting like 25+ MPG

Unhook the negative terminal on the battery and leave it unhooked for a good 5 minutes or so. Then reconnect it and the code should be gone.
