Ahoy
Just installed brand new engine in the talon, will not start(no spark). Car is turning over though.
Also bought new crank sensor if i hooked that up wrong and tried starting it would that fry the sensor? We cannot get a reading off of it at all with the multi meter.

Car was running fine before hand no problems with spark.

Ok first of all how can you hook it up wrong??? It has a plug that fits one way. Secondly if you are following the procedure in the manual for testing it and getting nothing, then check your wiring and sensor. Seeming as though you have no reading, I assume you mean no voltage?? This would likely be wiring since the sensor should recieve the voltage whether it is working or not, correct me if I am wrong guys. Is the cam sensor good and/or hooked up correctly?? This signals have to be in sync for it to spark. Are your timing marks dead on?? Did you check the resistance across the coil and power supply to it??

Just giving you some places to start. Just no spark, is kinda vague.

are you sure that you are getting voltage to the coil.

my recent no start problem was that the +12 wire leading to the coil was melted and shorting against the block.

Dodge doesn't make the same sensor anymore. It came as a single piece with wiring which i did color to color which later i found was wrong. not just a new sensor you could plug into the block and original harness clip. Crank sensor.

Correct, a lot of places sell the cam/crank sensors with additional harnesses you must purchase and wire into the system. If your not getting any voltage, trace all your wiring and be sure you have no shorts anywhere. After that, do the same for the cam sensor and the coil pack.

One more thing too, you might want to test the ASD relay on yuor firewall to make sure that is good still and also make sure your ENGINE fuse is not blown in yuor fuse box under the hood.

I know this is from awhile ago but, i ended up taking it to Dodge and found that the cam sensor magnet was missing. Which was causing no spark.
I forgot to take it off the old engine.
