I just finished up my 3" Apexi N1 cat-back install. I took it out for a test drive and noticed a considerable amount of low end loss. Once reached up in the 5-6k RPMs it was taking off. I still have my stock cat on though. Would it be best to get a test pipe, high flow(ebay) cat, or a good high flow cat? Im looking to get SOME of my back pressure back to get more velocity thru there....any suggestions?

the stock cat would keep more back pressure than a freer (sp) flowing cat or a test pipe. Are you turbo? Also, is it a real Apexi N1 or is it the Tsudo Apexi N1 style found on ebay?

The larger piping reduces exhaust gas velocity which is why it feels slow.

Yea, I am already turbo'd and it is the real Apexi N1 3", i knew there would be a little bit of low end loss, but not this much.....so the stock cat would keep more low end power than a higher flowing cat or test pipe? Anybody running the high flow cat w/ 3" exhaust?

If you are already turbo then you should not experience ANY low end loss, if anything the turbo should spool up quicker. The turbo will supply all the backpressure needed, and you want as little restriction as possible. I have no idea why you would loose low end with a 3" catback.

Hows the idle? Anything else weird about the car?
Broken/missing/unhooked O2 sensor perhaps? massive exhaust leak? bannana in the tailpipe?

Idles like a champ, as far as I see no problems with the O2 sensor...not makin any cel, don't hear an exhaust leak....will look for banana tomorrow tho....would it have anything to do with keeping the stock cat on....turbo does spool faster but up in the higher RPM range

you have a huge turbo and you're only running 5psi right? (just a guess). Why 3" anyways? 2.5" Is more than fine unless my guess is wrong and you are pushing over 300 hp.
