9776, pass side motor mount Posted by vegasdsmr, Dec-09-01 06:13 AM
i have no clue if there is an upgraded one on the market for our 420a.
mine is chewed to sheet! it is all cracked up, and needs to be strengthened/replaced soon.
is there a company that sells better side mounts? i have the nrg suspension front and rears, but im worried bout the side one.
i have seen on rre's site taht they told sum guy to use 3m adhesive/bonding material to fill in the gaps of his, but im wondering if yall got any ideas.
i was thinkin of cuttin up my old rollerblade wheels to the right size, and stuffin them in there.

after i put in the front one, like 2 days ago, i tested it out w/ 4krpm drop clutch to induce wheel hop, and i just spun the tires w/ no wheel hop for a cuple seconds.
the rear one is a bitch from what i am told.
the car shakes more at 5k+rpms, but whatever, at least its feedback to know that the sheet is workin.
and i dont wanna pay more than 20 bux for a motor mount, im cheap as fuuug duuuuug

Last week while replacing my head gasket, I take out the front and back motor mounts for stuffing them with Urethane (for car windows). It was relatively easy to remouve the rear mount while there was no intake or head in the way.
This is where I pick the idea http://www.raktron.com/misc/mt.htm. A little bit more vibration is transmitted to the body but it's minimal.
Vegasdsmr you may be able to repair your side motor mount this way.

as long as your not getting wheel hop or engine movement, theres no reason to repalce your mounts, riiight? My frount mount is all fugged up looking, but i dont have any abnormal engine movement under load....

with your setup, im sure that you already have sum type of motor mounts.
i got wheel hop, and my mounts were torn to shred which created engine dancin. i still dance a lot, only on the pass side tho, cuz its torn up bad.
