97520, Car shut down, Help!
Posted by EclipsedOut, Mar-29-06 03:35 PM
I have a 95RS that just shut off going down the highway.
I tried:
Fuel relay
Cam senser
It has spark and fuel pressure.
I'm going to try the crank senser tomorrow.
Anyone have any other suggestions????

I was reading other threads and heard people talking about IAC's and CAS's.... What are they??
Thanks for any help.

When it shut off, were you able to start it again -- either in motion or after you pull off to the side? Did this just happened once or is it reocurring?

I think I found my problem!
I spent all morning at my parents house(an hour away)pulling parts off my parts car, came home and for some reason I looked at the timing belt and its not visable from the top.
I hate when that happens.
Thanks anyway.

Its there, it just broke. I spread the plastic shroud and all I saw was a bare front cam gear. I started taking it apart tonight. I had to stop at the crank pulley, I need a smaller puller.

That's what I read too :shrug

And if so, that was the wierdest reaction to finding out that your timing belt is gone?? IF that is the case, then expect needing many, if not all, new valves. Hopefully they didn't destroy your pistons as well. This is all assuming we read your post right...

Yes the belt is broke.
I got it all apart today and the tensioner pulley took a crap and I guess that's what caused the belt to snap.
I guess before I spend $300 bucks on the pulley's and tensioner I'll pull the valve cover and take a look at the valves.
I took pictures of all the pieces, I'll post them later.

I'm not worried about it, If the motor is bad that's a good excuse to build or buy a new one.}(
I've been looking at motors and heads at
www.conceptillusions.com
Anyone know of any place else to buy a built motor??
A couple years ago someone use to advertise on here, I think they were out of Ohio. They had a built 420A called "the rice killer" or something like that but I can not find them.

exileracing.com

and you have to pull the head off to check the valves
little more work than just the valve cover

but a leak down/compression tests will tell you right away if they are bad
