Car dies going 80mph down the highway, no CEL, no sputtering... simply turns off, and will NOT turn back on 'for a while'. Car has to sit for a while before it will start again. RPM's simply go to zero as if turning the car off. Car doesn't die @ idle (atleast not that we've seen), only at speed from 30mph on up. COMPLETELY RANDOM and intermittent, can't figure it out.

Things I've replaced:
Fuel Pump Relay
Fuel Pump & Assembly
Fuel Filter
PCV Valve

Running out of ideas. I've already searched on the boards and have seen it could be the Fuel Pressure Regulator, Alternator, Wiring, or even the ECU itself! Anyone have an idea? Why would it NOT turn back on again? I've been told there could be a problem with building/maintaining fuel pressure, to some electroincs could be overheating and needs to cool.

P.S.
This is actually my sister's '99 Chrysler Sebring LXi V6 2.5L. Different engine, but everything else is exactly the same (chassis & all). No test port for Fuel Pressure Gauge, would have to cut hard line on fuel rail & put in a T (not worth it).

Had same problem here last year, found it was a faulty MAP sensor, has yet to come back and haunt me again. Why the MAP would cause this on my car, not sure, but found out thats what it was.

cam or crank sensor.
Id try to replace the distributor first (its got the cam sensor built into it)

also make sure the battery connections are good. I was driving one day and my car shut off. haha

My understanding is that if you have a faulty MAP/CAM/Crank Sensor that it'll put the CEL on (which it doesn't)... am getting quotes for each from youneedapart, but amp skeptical.

Already checked battery cables & they 'look fine', although that doesn't neccesserily mean anything. VERY solid/tight connection too.

No not always.
Its a pretty typical problem
