ok altenator tested good again today
battery tested good but the guy said it took a long time to charge it
I was going to replace the wiring harness for the alt,OPS,CAS, and knock sensor, but the fucker who I was going to buy it from told me it was for my car but his was a gst...
I know I am getting current to the hot wire going from the fuse box to the altenator. However sometimes if I reconnect it, as soon as I bolt that nut down on the hot cable, I get no power, if I disconnect it I do. its like something is shorted out. my fuse hasnt blown though..
now what should I do? What are the two wires that plug into the altenator? would they have anything to do w/ it and if so how can I test them? Also the ground coming from the battery that links in w/ the wiring harness, I have grounded to the block which is painted. maybe there? I need some serious help guys, I'm desperate.

Not sure, those two wires are from the ECU. The ECU controls the switching of the alternator. My guess is you may have damaged the harness somewhere. start opening the harness up and checking resistance from wire to ecu.

Terry, what sort of reading should I get from the wires? I understand how to test each wire, but what sort of resistance should I be looking for? thanks

To test the wires, I am assuming I can use my ohm meter and ground the black wire and use the red pen to check every metal connection on every plug would that be the correct way to do it? thanks, oh and of course have power running to them.

Did you check the fusible link? That'd be the most likely culpit.

you mean the fuse in the fuse box? yeah it's fine, I'm getting power to the end of the power cable that is bolted to the fuse box, I'm assuming that 120a fuse is the fusible link you are referring to.

well maybe my ground from my battery is on the wrong spot. I have it bolted to the front of the block, should it be on the starter bolt that is on the tranny? or would that matter? thanks

ok I got the altenator bench tested yesterday, it checked out good...So today I was reading on a ford website and a guy had a similar problem and it was his battery. it wasnt old but had been sitting for a long time. His battery was too weak for the altenator to keep a charge on it. So I bought a new battery today, took the wiring harness off, cleaned all the connections everywhere, stripped it down and taped up everything over again. And it is running fine now. I tested the voltage before and after the car was running. before running that batt tested at 12.5v and while running it tested 14.3, so I hope that is a good sign. no check engine lights or anything so far. Hopefully it keeps a charge on it. Now the only problem I have is the radiator leak. haha always something.

well I'm keeping my fingers crossed.. I fixed the radiator leak w/ some epoxy sh*t, and no leaks yet, I just drove 30 miles which happens to be the furthest my car has been driven in 15 months haha. No overheating, no leaking, and best of all, my battery is keeping a charge woohoo ! thanks guys... Now someone get in the handling section and try to figure out that sh*t haha, thanks
