Ok So I check all of my motor mounts. All look fine and have no cracks or tears. But When I start my engine and rev it up while looking at the engine, I see the bolts that go through the mount move around A LOT in the middle of the mount. Is this normal? Or do I need to put inserts in?

what mount are you talking about? the bolt shouldnt move at all, if the actual bolt moves then you must not have it in all the way and torqued down. the pass side mount can be a pain in the ass to get in the threaded hole... so are you sure they are torqued?

Mainly the one at the front under the rad. fan at the crossmember.

Ill try to tighten it tomorrow after school. What size bolts are both sides?

for which mount? the 2 bolts that hold the mount on the crossmember or the horizontal bolt and nut? (the one under the radiator) or the side mounts?

One under radiator, the horiz. bolts going THROUGH the actual rubber of the mount.

The purpose of the motormount is to dampen vibration and hold the engine in place. it's not to hold the engine ridged to the frame.

So yeah. that's normal.

Lol, I kno a little is normal, but this seems a little much, Ill compare to my friends car (same as mine) and see how bad his does it.

I was thinking somethning was wrong with my mounts already bc it makes a bad wheel hop feel but it does it when not spinning!! Could that be related to ball joint problems?

ok so I compared my engine mount movement to my buddys. We both have 95 RSes.

His moved a lot LESS than mine, should I just try tightening the bolt? If it is tight, why is it moving so much? The mount has no visible wear.

It has no visible wear? and you had it 4 inches in front of your eyes and flexing it? if not how do you know? Some develop rips that cant bee seen unless you take em out are can actually move it and see.

well i checked them. They all were able to be tightened a little, but that front one was pretty damn loose. The car feels more responsive now along with better burnouts ;) lol. But the rear one I oculdnt get to, looks like where the small screw goes in it is broke, I guess ill buy a new one!
