ok, the check engine light went off (it was 12 25) I didnt do anything, it just went off tonight when I started it and drove around for about 10 minutes.... now here are my questions: 1)my car didnt overheat but the gauge went up a little bit like it was going to and then went back down, I'm guessing temp gauge failure. 2)after it was warmed up I turned the heat on and nothing, cold air only??? heater was working fine a year ago before it broke down...3)my srs light is on. I took the pass. side air bag out to paint it like 2 years ago and it came on then but I thought it went off, it's been broken down for a year so I may be wrong, how do I get it to turn off... 4)eventhough the cel is off, could my iac motor still be bad? I had code 25, but like I said nothing now, however if I push in the clutch or put it in neutral it takes it a while to go back to idle, it stays around 2g for about 3 seconds and then goes down... and my timing is on, dead on... sorry for so many questions thanks guys

1. SRS Light.......IF the light came on then the plug must still be unplugged. The SRS computer will store the code even if you unplug the SRS module. In otherwords you have to pull the bulb.

2. 2k RPM. you must have a vacuum leak somewhere. If you have a vacuum leak the ECU can throw a IAC code because it thinks the iac may not be closing. With the engine running, take carb cleaner or startng fluid and spray around the intake gaskets, TB gaskets and vac lines. Becareful how much you spray because the spray is flammable.

I'm not Terry or Dino, but I'll give it a try.

I don't think it is a temp gauge failure. If your not getting any hot air, then water is not going through your heater core. This would also be a reason for the overheating. You need to add some coolant to the system. Search around for burping the system so you get it completely full.

The srs light is probably still from you taking out.

Replace your iac, it's not that expensive.

So what you are saying is, even if I do make sure the srs system is plugged in correctly the light wont go off? that sucks... and also as far as the vaccuum leak, all my vaccuum lines are new, but I'll check anyways, the only question about vaccuum is, on the back of the intake manifold where the 3 prongs are for the vaccuum lines, the middle one is open, nothing connecting to it. is that suppose to be or am I missing something? thanks fellars

The temp gauge does that when there's air in the system. Continue to "burp" the system by adding coolant when needed and the air will work its way out.

Take your finger and while the engine is running, put it over that open prong. You should find the engine responds by slowing down (assuming that's your only leak). If that fixes it, then cap that prong off. If it does nothing, then you'll have to keep looking.

Gil... thats called a vacuum leak... hole in the intake mani? get it? got it? good.

what connects to that then? I dont see anything to connect to it. here is what I'm talking about: on the back of the top intake plenum on the passenger side, there are 3 prongs that stick out in a "W" shape, one connects to the fuel rail, one connects that the black vaccuum thingy in front of the engine by the egr valve and the middle one is open. is it a breather or something, b/c I really dont see what would connect to it???? thanks

It's connected to the cruise control. (the black box thing under the intake manifold). If you don't have cruise for some reason, then it should be capped to prevent a vacuum leak.

Oh yea, almost forgot, buy a haynes manual, a chiltons manual, and download the FSM from dino's link. yea.

I have a chiltons and the online manual, but I didnt see anything, but I'm sure its in there. I dont have cruise control and it isnt capped, so thanks Brian alot. I know you were joking but that does show alot about ya man.. I really appreciate it, well since it isnt capped off, that damn sure makes it easy to find that leak.... thanks again fellas
