9704, Cat-back Posted by run4cvr, Dec-06-01 11:39 PM
I hoping to get a cat-back exhaust this month and i have a few questions. First is i can only afford about $200. Second i am not sure if should go with a High performance muffler and have the local muffler shop do the piping. Or order the pacesetter cat-back system. The prices are about the same... I'm not to concerned with the looks, and i want something with a rumble to it... not tin-can sounding.

umm pacesetter is not the best exhaust out there my man.. i never heard them b4.. but a cat back on a NA isnt really going to do much..
i have a weapon R r1 muffler and it has sounded sweet since the day i had it..now with the CAI and header it has a nice low rumble..
but check out www.importparts.com they were having a sale on a apexi dunk cat back (i think its the dunk or n1) great deep sounding exhaust.. the sale was 299.99 .. not sure about the shippping.. last i saw there were out of stock so u maybe outta luck..
but i wouldnt go after the pacesetter.. just from what i heard

I got a 2.5" custom mandrel bent cat-back and an Arospeed Bomb muffler for $260. I got the muffler for about $110 on eBay and the shop did the piping for $150.
The small gains are in the high-end and I really haven't noticed any loss in low-end. I'm very pleased but the exhaust is LOUD! I need to find a way to quiet it down a little.
A custom cat-back will help prepare you for other mods (like turbo or nitrous.)
