After going everywhere to find those stupid bolts to take out the crank sprocket, i finally get them, take out the sprocket with ease, and then i install the shit backwards on the new block!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh, i'm literally going to kill myself. I stopped pounding it about 1/2 inch before the oil pump, and the screws won't screw to the back of the sprocket, and have no fucken idea what i'm gonna do now. I feel like crying.

After you get done crying...... I know of only 2 ways to get it back off. Drill holes and tap or weld nuts on and take it off. After thet you will need to go buy another 25 dollar pulley.

Just use a 3 way jaw puller man. It will come off...

it's too close to the oil pump now. the handles won't be able to grab since the oil pump gets in the way.

ok man, here is what to do.. I did the same thing... go to autozone, rent their harmonic dampener pulley, you are gonna have to buy 3 new bolts for the 3 holes and 6 washers.. I cant remember the thread, even I just did it like 4 days ago. and go at it, it doesnt grip the bottom of the pulley, it uses the bolts to pull it off.. and the new bolts which are only about 2 bucks for all the shit you need and to rent the puller is 15 bucks.. the pulley puller's number is 27019 from autozone... dont get mad and quit man. you can do it haha g'luck

Funny how a turn around of the this stupid sprocket would have completely eliminated any of this. I'll call up a machine shop and see if they can cut it off.

the only way to did this. if you even can after you fucked it up so bad. is to tap the threads all the way through, and do the same as you pulled it off first time.

i tried that, and stupid titanium bit broke in the hole, then i had to drill that bitch out. I'm still fucking with it, and the center of the sprocket cracked, so it should be coming out. I'm able to now fit a jaw puller, but only two of the pullers, i need to crack it a bit more on one side to fit the 3rd puller, then i should be able to take it off.

This is bullshit - well at least now i have my "most embarrassing moment" dealing with my car post.... hmmm, now where is that thread.

well, after lots of drilling, pounding bolts in the sprocket, i finally managed to crack the inner ring of it and it slipped off nicely. No damage to the block or oil pump. While i was going to put in the enging today, at least i was able to take it off.

yea, It was such a relief to finally get it off after about 6 hours of messing with it. I just placed my order for another at satan. Now i gotta wait longer to put in this damn motor - oh well.

Wow dude that sucks. At least you got it out. DOn't worry, I messed up on my oil return line install and drilled a "6" instead of a "O". And how about the time I was doing a compression test and the adpater got stuck in the spark plug well. Yeah not fun and of course I posted on 2gnt about and freaked out like you :)

lol! that's funny. Yea, i also had that problem when i did a compression test. These things are the worst when they happen and funny after all is fixed and done.

Man I just used RTV sealand on the compression nuts to seal the "6" and tis held up up 3 years and going.

Not fun at all!! At least I know I am not the only one. I still am going through this now too because the head gasket didnt seal right the first time.

I did the same thing. Use a cobalt drill bit next time, seems to work better than titanium. Any m6x1.0 tap will work, then just thread in the screws and remove with the same 3-slot damper puller you used the first time.

Don't EVER use a 3-jaw puller anywhere on a crankshaft sprocket. It will always shatter as you found out.

lol, well, luckily i called up another mitsu dealer and they had the sprocket in stock, so i cancelled my order and rushed to pick it up. The engine is now fully together minus the VC, since i'm waiting on a new powder coated one. Timing belt was pretty simple, took me a few tries but eventually got it.

man that's horrible! sounds like you are making progress now.

man, let me tell you. Since I began this rebuild, I've taken so many damn trips to autozone/kragen that they feel like my second home.

so whats in the new engine? Low compression for more boost?

pretty much. forged bottom end kit (JE 8.8:1, eagles, 20 over. arp studs, crank balanced for 10k rpm -not bloody likely will i rev it that much). Luckily I bought the block from chamuko, so i didn't have to wait for howell to take their happy time shipping me anything.

and then, i just had the head surfaced, hot tanked and had a standard 3 angle valve job.

it all looks so nice and clean. :) oh, and i put in some new 440 RC injectors and UDP. Just need an FMIC now.

Wow can I ask how much did that cost? Where is the shop that you used to assemble and have the work done? I think my rebuild is coming soon :(
