I have a question..... i currently have a short ram air intake and was thinking about building a cold air intake. Is there a difference in power gains between the two? I have heard that the short ram offers less restriction meaning that there is more horsepower.... any thoughts?

colder denser air going into the engine makes the intake charge cooler. this results in better performance.

i was getting 68 degree intake temp with my shortram and dual ram air setup when it was like 60 degrees outside at WOT. we compared it to an aem cai intake temp, and it didnt see anything under 80, but that was not tested at WOT, just normal driving.

these temps were produced by the obd2software hookdup to a laptop.

the cold air intake(cai) usually gives u like 2 or 3 more hp.
the short ram growls louder

I had my bypass valve out the other day and left it short ram just to see the differance. I lost some power through the power band. So, when i get my HRC kit i'll try and adapt the CAI to fit.

I did 2 Dyno runs and have the sheet to prove this. first run was with no air moving across my front end. and i maxed out at 115 HP to the wheels. with a decent fan which simulates about 55 MPH i jumped to 122 HP to the wheels....AEM cold air ...non bypass type.
