96028, temp gauge not working Posted by boosted60trimrst, Jan-27-06 12:04 PM
i was driving today and noticed my temp gauge is not going up and my car is studdering a lil . i think it the temp sensor probably . should i replace both sensors by the themostat housing or just the top one ? also where can i find these sensors?

the top sensor if im not mistaken goes to the gauge, the bottom tells the ecu wat the temp is. If just the gauge was messed up wouldnt cause any problems w/ running. I would go ahead and replace them both if you can. Mitsubishi, or maybe autozone should carry these.

The top sensor is for the coolant temp to the ECU, the bottom one, the smaller, one wire sensor, is the dash gauge one. Usually the wire gets corroded or broken at the sensor plug, or a loose plug on the sensor, so i would check that first before you spend money on a new sensor.
