95991, Bent some valves................now lookin for some options

Well I was out for a ride giving the car hell on the backroads, when I busted up all 8 of my intake valves. So I take the head off and there's almost not even a scratch on the pistons, and the valves are bent ever so slightly off the seat of the head. Checked my timing and everything seems to be alright. I talked to a few mechanics and they said that I probably was revving too high and the piston just caught it. I was wondering if I got some cam gears and played with the settings if I could prevent this from happening again? Im replacing my stock valves with some Stainless ones from Exile so I dont want to be out 300 bucks again if they bend. I'd rather take 300 more dollars and invest in saving my valves and getting a bit of performance out of it also.

Did you miss a gear? Valves won't typically won't float under the factory redline, unless the springs are failing.

The car is a automatic and i bought the crower springs and retainers and they've only been in for 300 miles.......

Then i have no idea, unless your tensioner is failing and allowed the car to jump time.

Worst thing about that is, I just bought the tensioner brand new from the local dodge dealership. When i redid my engine I bought everything brand new minus cams,cam gears, and valves........

If all timing marks are lined up I would guess the tensioner either failed or the timing belt tension wasn't enough.

Did you check timing before you tore everything apart to see that everything was still good.

I have heard from my local Mitsu dealer that the tensioner used on the Neon and the one used on our cars had diff tension strengths, and the proper one should be used.

THIS IS WHAT I WAS TOLD, I dont personally see why there would be 2 diff ones. If I am wrong, then please disregard.
