Tomorrow, when I receive my car from the shop for an alternator replacement, I will be taking off my throttle body for cleaning. As well as replacing the Idle Air Control valve. I went to O'Reilly's Auto Parts earlier today to go ahead and purchase a new throttle body gasket. However, I was surfing around PartsDinosaur.com and looked at their gasket for the 420a DOHC throttle body and it is obviously different. Which one of the two is the correct gasket?

The first one is the same as what came off my throttle body when I replaced it, and it is also the same one that I got from advanced auto. But the second one appears as if it would also work.

I'm curious... how exactly does the second gasket work, because aren't both the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and throttle body flat with no slits? (for example: valve cover gasket)

That is correct. I don't think the second one is the correct gasket, both of our flanges are flat for the throttle body and intake manifold.

the 2nd one looks to be more like a "rope seal" in nature..like our VC gaskets. i have no clue in hell what that would go on..but deff not a 2gnt TB

I concur on the first one, but I just cleaned up the mating surfaces really good and used anaerobic sealant on them. Works perfectly. (What else is anaerobic sealant good for when you have no rebuild plans in the near future?) :+

the second one is what i got when i went to discount auto parts, it worked but i wasent happy with the seal it gave, i guess you tighten it down and it works but it kept leaking on me so i went to nappa and got some sheets of gasket material and cut my own out. but the second one is sold as the gasket for the 2gnt tb but a pita to deal with definatly go with number 1

A 1/4 inch bead of RTV sealant will do just fine. (..and it's cheaper and readily available!)

the 2nd one is for the Neon with the plastic manifold.
